A fantastic weekend at Driftwood Motel, our leisure marching team spent two nights while attending Nationals. It was just like being in our own backyard with all the outdoor equipment we needed for our `quiet drinks and nibbles' each day. Inside, the very spacious, very clean units were all and more we needed. Heads up to Dave who I had to get out of his bed as our unit key was temporarily misplaced, even greeted me with a smile with the replacement key, well I think it was a smile. Thanks guys, loved it. Chris from Tasman Blue Beats

Room Tip: We had 4 rooms and all were great

Nelson is a beautiful area, and the Driftwood is a wonderful place to stay. We were warmly greeted by David and Maida, and very pleasantly surprised by the large and very comfortable accommodations. It was just a short walk to the beach and several restaurants. A day trip to Abel Tasman for hiking ended with berry picking just outside of town. This was a great start to our trip around the South Island.

Room Tip: Room #4, at the back of the property, was very quiet.

The room was spacious and very clean and tidy. Hosts were extremely helpful. It was great to be able to sit outside in the garden in the late afternoon sun. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. The beach is only a short walk away. Will definitely book here again next time we visit Nelson.

Awsome place to stay - We stayed as a sports team of 10 kids and 10 adults. Dave and Maida sorted out the room allocarion with me so that we could ahve the kdis staying with each other and the parents could keep an eye on them. The beds are comfortable . It's yummy and warm and the Maida and Dave are the perfect hosts.

Thank you for a lovely stay

Toward the end of our 3 week South Island holiday, we decided at the last minute to return to Nelson to visit with friends. The Driftwood was one of the only affordable options left available at 5:00 on Friday night so we booked it.
What a pleasant suprise! The hosts were so, so helpful and welcoming. The rooms were immaculate (new furnishings gave it a great updated feeling) and we decided to book for 2 nights so they upgraded us to the large suite! Very nice, quiet area off the main highway. Easy, 5-10 minute drive to the Nelson CBD. Classic Kiwi hospitality, SKY, clean, safe and friendly. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Any will do! Every room faces the grass courtyard.

My wife and I stayed for three nights at the end of February and were extremy happy with everything. In particular we want to mention the helpfulness of our hosts!
The continental breakfast that you can get in your room is quite sufficient - if you want a cooked one we found only a few alternatives nearby; McD and Amigos (not recommended for dinner but breakfast OK). For dinner there are several more alternatives. We liked "The Hot Rock"!

The rooms were clean and hosts were very friendly. Loved the complimentary homemade shortbreads and enjoyed sipping my morning tea at the garden outside my room.

Highly recommended if staying in Nelson.
