“Warm welcome, great hosts”
Reviewed 3 February 2013

Spent 5happy days here last week. Nick and Ann are very helpful and generous hosts. We enjoyed using their bikes in our quest for improved fitness. Their wine was also much appreciated but might have negated the fitness drive! We would thoroughly recommend the Out of Africa studio to any couple wanting to spend quality time in Nelson. It is easy to walk into town by the 'back' way. The studio is very well equipped with thoughtful touches like milk in the fridge and olive oil for cooking. There is no dedicated outdoor space but you are welcome to share table and chairs in the communal back garden so not a problem. Great drying facilities. We will be back. From Helensburgh Maureen

Room Tip: Studio is great for two adults. Touch of oriental would be better if 3 or more.

We have just spent an excellent 3 nights with Ann and Nick in their lovely B&B. We were allocated the apartment, "Out of Africa". It was excellent. Bright airey and absolutely spotlessly clean. It has a large king size bed, table and chairs for relaxing and a desk at which you can use your laptop on WiFi or a hard broadband connection. I used the broadband connection which was fast. There is also a cooking area which has two gas hobs and also has a microwave oven. There is also a refrigerator. The area is equipped with cutlery, a knife block, as well as pots and pans and all the plates you would require if you want to eat in. Ther is also digital TV and a DVD player with a good selection of DVDs.
It is fully independent and set apart from their house. Ann or Nick wwould bring the fresh fruit, cereal etc over to the apartment and whilst we ate that they went away and cooked our eggs and bacon fresh. It was lovely.

There was also plenty of private parking available.

If you want to use Nelson as a base for Abel Tasman national park you will not better Annick House. Thanks again Ann and Nick for making our stay so enjoyable.

Ann and Nick were the perfect hosts and made our stay very enjoyable indeed.

Room Tip: If You get the choice select, "Out of Africa"

This was my third stay in Nelson and at the Annick House, and I hope not the last. I find it so comfortable and cosy that it has become a home away from home. I was sad to leave even if we had great plans for the rest of our trip in NZ.
The studio is fully independent and the owners of the B&B were very discreet, just making sure we had everything we needed. We opted off the breakfast since the studio has a great kitchenette, and we also cooked nice dinners when we didn't feel like walking the 10-15 minutes to the centre of town (which has a great choice of cuisines).
Nick gave us a great recommendation for a meal out: the Sprig and Fern on Milton Road. You have a great beer (berry cider for me!) in a cosy setting and when you feel peckish, you can order food at the fish and chips shop next door and they will deliver it in the pub while you get your second drink. Fantastic!

Ann and Nick are the perfect hosts and they have got their business running superbly. The accomodation is first class - they have thought of everything. Decor and furnishings are themed - we were in their Oriental suite with separate bedroom, bathroom and living rooms - very nice. The kitchen is fully eqipped and there is even a gas barbecue for alfresco dining overlooking their beautiful garden. The breakfast tray, delivered each morning to your room at any time of your choice, had to be seen to be believed - we had to take a photo of it! Nothing was too much trouble and we benefitted greatly from Nick's advice on what to see , timings etc. He even suggested a wet weather programme to us as we did have one day of torrential rain! This trully was one of the best, if not the best B & B that we stayed in during our five weeks in New Zealand. Thank you Ann and Nick we can't praise you and your home highly enough. Martin & Sandy.

Our 2 night stay in the 'Out of Africa' studio was one of the highlights of our round the world trip. Despite it being Christmas Eve when we arrived, Ann and Nick left their party in the main house to give us a warm welcome. Our Christmas Breakfast tray included fruit, cereals yoghurt, pastries, poached eggs, chocolate and a cuddly kiwi for our 9 year old daughter who was delighted. We felt very spoilt and on Christmas day evening we spent time with Ann and Nick sharing stories about our different lives, a world apart. The guest book says it all - it is full of praise. We very much hope that we can stay at Annick House again when we return one day. Thank you Ann and Nick.

Room Tip: We loved the out of Africa room as it was large and self contained.

Hello Juliette It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay with us over Christmas. It is nice to be able to make people feel part of a big family when they are far away from home and loved fones. We hope the kiwi is getting lots of cuddles. We would love to see you again and stay longer. Thanks Ann and Nick

Thanks so much to Nick and Ann for their discreet hospitality during our 4 night stay in Out of Africa. Annick House really is a home from home, everything we needed was provided in the spacious and comfortable accommodation. Our only disappointment was that we didn't see more of the cats! Highly recommended.

Thank you Nick and Ann for the 1 night. I had never been to Nelson before and staying with you made my experiece very special. The bike was very comfortable and gave me the opportunity to explore all around Nelson at my leisure over 2 days. Picking me up from the info centre and dropping my off at the airport made my stay easy and gave me maximum time to explore and enjoy the town. Excellent accomadtion with lots of very thoughtful additions, thank you Nick and Ann for a wonderful stay.
