“Convenient and peaceful self-contained”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

I booked the self-contained flat for 3 weeks for my fathers' visit. The ground floor unit has direct acces to the pleasant and peaceful garden and felt very homely and relaxing. My father rated it highly. I then booked it again for some retired friends and they really enjoyed it too. Its very well located close to walking trails, the Maitai River and easy walking distance to Nelson centre. Friendly hosts too.

Room Tip: the ground floor flat has a nice little deck and fronts onto the peaceful garden

Hi Ali It was great to meet your father and I know that he enjoyed visiting Nelson. He really appreciated being able to come back to his little home and have some quiet time. We are hoping see him again in the future.

As part of our trip through New Zealand in January of 2014 we (3 adult friends) booked B&B accomodation with Ann and Nick from Annick House in Nelson on the New Zealand South Island. Granted, the accomodation is ideal for a couple (the third bed is in some sort of a closet, although it's not as bad as it sounds!), but apart from that it is fabulous! Tastefully decorated space, very clean, all amenities you need, fantastic breakfast, and extremely welcoming, accomodating hosts. We wholeheartedly recommend Annick House!

Hi Marielle Pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. Yes the third bed is in a rather small room but it is more comfortable that the one Harry Potter had to sleep on in under the stairs. If there was a problem we are always prepared to offer a room in our home.

We stayed for two nights in the very comfortable and welcoming Annick House in Nelson whilst we were travelling in South Island with our daughter aged 24. In the planning stages, Annick House’s proprietors Anne and Nick were very helpful as we required a separate sleeping area for our daughter. They were able to accommodate our wishes very easily in their appropriately decorated Out of Africa suite which also has a small kitchen area with fridge and microwave. Our daughter slept in a single bed in a small side room off the main bedroom/living area, where the king sized bed was really comfortable. They supplied wonderful breakfasts to order, both continental and cooked, as well as recommending suitable pubs, cafes and restaurants in town. We were able to use their washing machine without charge and they were very informative when we wanted to book a water taxi and kayaking trip to the Abel Tasman National Park the next day.

We are very pleased that you enjoyed yours stay with us. We enjoy meeting new people and welcoming them into our home. We also like to help our guests make the most of their stay in Nelson as most leave wishing that they had stayed longer. The kayaking trip was a bit of a challenge but I know that you had a great day out a had a wonderful experience. Take care.

We stayed for two weeks at the AnnNickHouse. Ann and Nick graciously rented us their personal house so our three children and us could stay. It was a very nice stay being walking distance to downtown Nelson, some great hiking (tramping) tracks and most of all was a very comfortable peaceful stay. We ate dinner on the covered enclosed deck space, our kids loved playing badmington, we ate the best tomatoes grown in their greenhouse and salad from their garden. I cannot cover every little detail but from day one we felt like we were at home and never wanted to leave! A very nice, very high quality, very comfortable stay all around; we cannot think of a single improvement or suggestion other than saying you will want to stay longer!

Room Tip: Best to just ask Ann or Nick what lodging will fit your needs the best. They are very friendly and...

Our Out of Africa room was spacious and immaculate, and the breakfast was made-to-order and delicious and plentiful. Ann is a most gracious hostess. I especially appreciated the free and quick internet service.

We enjoyed three nights at Annick House on our recent tour of New Zealand.
Ann and Nick were great hosts giving excellent advice on local restaurants and places to visit in Nelson. They even booked our trip to the Abel Tasman National Park for us. This involved an early start, but breakfast was prepared for us to ensure we got away on time.
Nothing was too much trouble, and I would thoroughly recommend Annick House as a place to stay in Nelson.

Spent 5happy days here last week. Nick and Ann are very helpful and generous hosts. We enjoyed using their bikes in our quest for improved fitness. Their wine was also much appreciated but might have negated the fitness drive! We would thoroughly recommend the Out of Africa studio to any couple wanting to spend quality time in Nelson. It is easy to walk into town by the 'back' way. The studio is very well equipped with thoughtful touches like milk in the fridge and olive oil for cooking. There is no dedicated outdoor space but you are welcome to share table and chairs in the communal back garden so not a problem. Great drying facilities. We will be back. From Helensburgh Maureen

Room Tip: Studio is great for two adults. Touch of oriental would be better if 3 or more.
