If you are not wanting to be in the city center and are wanting a view with your room you can't beat The Sands. The room was very clean and comfortable. Reasonably well equipped. Although on a busy road absolutely no problem with traffic noise. These are apartments and are not serviced daily. The property is very secure with secure undercover parking and guest only access to the building. Each apartment has its own balcony overlooking the beach (Tahuna). Sadly as it was winter we did not utilise ours. The location is just fantastic with many takeaway food outlets and restaurants really close. My only comment would be that you are paying alot for the location as the pricing is fairly steep compared to other places that may offer more ( breakfast / wifi/ tv in bedroom) for the same money. And in the unit we stayed there was not really anywhere to put things ( like suitcases, toiletries ) except away in cupboards so they are more designed for long stay options not just two nights as we did.

This was our second stay at these apartments, and once again we found them to be spacious well-appointed and very comfortable. They are not the cheapest on the market, but they are well-located overlooking the beach and close to a range of good restaurants, and within easy driving of the city.
Contrary to other reviews we did not experience any noise from the car park, and enjoyed good friendly and very helpful service throughout our stay.
We would definitely stay here again.

We spent 3 nights at The Sands ( two couples). The apartments look quite nice from outside, but the two bedroom appartment did not meet our expectation. Second bedroom was not bedroom at all. It was a very small, strange shaped room. This room should be used as a storage only. Very small. No chance to fit any furniture there, just 2 single beds and 1 little table. No bedside tables, laps, nothing at all. Small window facing car park. Noisy and dark.
The balcony on the second floor was not covered, so in case of rain we could not sit there. Balcony was not cleaned for a long time, a lot of dust everywhere.
Kitchen was nice, spacious, but some of the kitchen utensils were very old, melted from the heat, not washed properly.
The manager was very nice and helpfull.
If we stay there in a future with our friends again, we will go for two one bedroom apartments instead.

Lubica

Room Tip: Do to go for 2 bedrooms apartment if you would like to have both rooms spacious, as the second bedroom was really small, no furniture and facing the car park.

I stay here for business trip regularly.
Rooms are spacious and modern Its your own apartment - Bar/Restaurant facilities right below and other options close by
Large park and amazing beach with minutes walk
Television has Sky Tv so plenty of options for channels - this is not common in Nz Hotels all the time.
5 Mins drive from Nelson city itself or short bus trip if you dont have a vehicle.

Having just had 4 nights staying here, we had a fab time with a great kitchen in the 2 bedroom unit on the second floor. There are also great restaurants and takeaways near by, Thai, wood fired pizza, fish n chips etc. it was hard to get a good nights sleep because the beds in our unit were not comfortable. I told the manager and he said all the units are furnished by the owners separately, so hard to have a consistent standard. We stayed on the 3rd floor last time was quieter and more comfortable. Would definitely go back though.
