Description: From an iconic 19th century cottage within the quiet city fringe of Nelson, with a maximum seating of just 28, it has garnered notoriety with discerning diners since quietly opening towards the end of 2009. With a passion for fine food, using only the freshest of local ingredients and combining them with internationally award winning culinary expertise to make dining out an occasion. A stellar wine list, including vintages carefully selected from vineyards locally and abroad. Intimate dining, comfortable high quality surroundings and attentive service; dining out the way it should be.

We had an enjoyable meal, good quality in this initially formal but friendly service. The menu was what we liked, short but interesting combinations of flavours. The mains we selected of belly pork and lamb cooked 3 ways were delicious. The taster desert for 2 also hit the spot. The only reason we did not give a 5 was ambience, we dined on a very quiet Thursday evening when there was only a another couple dining who left soon after we entered.

lack of fineness in service. We didn't feel welcome----even after a long wait. The service is like the cottage cold and old.
lace of fineness in food. Some Asian ingredients, some micro-green leaves, some unintelligent, random pairing----That's all there were. My 13-year-old daughter can put things together in a more artistic way if you think fine dining is about presentation and presentation alone. The duck was tough and chewy. The pork was no where near as good as the one I had at Cafe Affair.
lack of fineness in experience. We didn't feel good about ourselves after the meal. We came for fine dining but we got worse than cafe food. Being cheated, I'm such a fool----that's how I felt.
this place is a joke.

Limited menu but a few options that I could have eaten. Started with asparagus which was ok with the sheep cheese soufflé a good complement. Partner wants to upsize her duck entree to main, no problem from the kitchen and I had fish of the day which was the meal highlight... Dessert a creme brûlée with apricot three ways yummy. Great service and a limited wine by the glass selection. Only pointer would be it would be great to pour these at the table so the diners can see the bottle... A great night and recommended.

A charming place, but we had no luck when we went last week. Unfortunately there was a large party to be served before us and we spent three hours there waiting to be brought tepid dishes of very small quantities, like "nouvelle cuisine" some 15 years ago. Service was mediocre and never offer any apologies for the extremely long wait. Prices were really too high, considering the overall lack of professionalism both in the kitchen and in the dining room.

From the moment you enter this charming little house, you feel like you're royalty! The food was superb and the service impeccable. We easily sat for 2 1/2 hours, not rushed, enjoying the best that Nelson offers!
