This Orangerie is open to passers by but has a captive customer staying at the Hotel. The restaurant had plastic , very basic tables and chairs which was unexpected given the lovely French name. The high ceiling and large conservatory windows which are probably bright and airy in the daytime for lunch were freezing cold and we moved from a window seat as it was chilly. The excellent tasty lamb, a good bottle of wine and very friendly staff helped redeem the situation.

Dear Peter W
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments regarding your recent dining experience with us at the Orangerie Restaurant. We have just recently carried out a soft refurbishment of the restaurant to create a more casual and relaxed dining experience which we think will appeal to more of our hotel guests as well as passer-by’s. We are very excited about what is still to come so please watch this space…
Thank you for your wonderful comments about the food, wine and our friendly team, I will be passing this feedback onto them all as I know they will be very appreciative of you taking the time to share it on our tripadvisor page.
Kindest Regards
Sharon McGuire

Food was great, service friendly and competent. The lamb - marinated in milk and honey - truly superb! Not a great restaurant but definitely worth a visit for lunch or a casual dinner.

Dear SandzDK
Thank you for sharing your comments regarding your recent dining experience at the Orangerie Restaurant. I am delighted to read that you enjoyed the lamb so much and will definitely pass your feedback onto our executive chef and the rest of the food and beverage team, I know they will be so pleased to read this feedback. We have recently carried out a soft refurbishment of the restaurant where we are trying to create a more casual atmosphere as apposed to the more formal dining we offered previously. At the moment we are open for breakfast and dinner but this may be reassessed later on to allow us to be open for lunch as well. We are very excited about the changes and hope that you will come back for a meal when we have completed the restaurant refurbishment.
Kindest Regards

Oh no! It's turned into a noisy cafe :-( BEFORE: Comfy chairs, white table cloths, elbow room, classy, somewhere special, cozy welcoming atmosphere, original......
AFTER: Uncovered easy clean tables, garish green hard cold plastic chairs, very noisy, no atmosphere or feeling like we were somewhere special anymore. The food was as always very good, sadly the main wasn't hot enough even after sending it back but still very nice, the trio desert was beautiful & the service was pretty good. We had a nice evening but you have gone from one end of the spectrum to the other with the changed decor & it has lost the magic. We embrace change not run from it usually but this was a 10 on the shock factor & I for one was pleased to finish my meal & get off the uncomfortable chair & go somewhere quiet for the rest of the evening.

Dear Tracy W
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments regarding your dining experience with us at The Orangerie Restaurant and we appreciate your constructive feedback. The restaurant hasn’t had any renovations since it first opened and it was time to reassess both the décor and the menu offered. I agree that previously we had a great dining environment however it was visited more for special occasions rather than every day dining. Therefore our concept behind the renovations is to create a more relaxed and casual dining experience that can be enjoyed at any time. We are currently in the process of reviewing our menu and there are still on-going renovations to be carried out. Your comments regarding the design will be taken into consideration when completing the remaining renovations.
With respect to the heat of the food, this is definitely not our normal standard of service. I have followed this up with our Executive Chef and he extends his apologises for the impact this had on your dining experience. However I am pleased that overall you enjoyed the quality of the food and service offered. We trust that once we’ve launched the new look of the restaurant and the exciting menu you will give us another opportunity to offer you a great dining experience.
Once again we really appreciate your constructive feedback and thank you again for taking the time to share your comments.
Kindest Regards
Sharon McGuire

Good friendly staff - small menu but good quality tasty food - a little pricey but worth it - you may have to book ahead as gets very busy at the week end

Given one star because I cant give none.
arrived at 6.20 meal arrived at 7.40 we complained about the amount of time was told they had a big group up stairs,
Would have been good to tell us when we arrived not an hour later.
The table was not level and the waiter was help full in trying to fix the problem twice.
I ordered the Lamb it was bad news
The head waiter offered us a free coffee we declined and left.
We will never be back.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent dining experience at the Orangerie Restaurant. I am very sorry and disappointed to read that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies.
At the Orangerie we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. We have followed this up with our Restaurant Manager and Executive Chef and we’ve found there were some operational issues that have since been addressed. We take your comments very seriously and agree the service standard was unacceptable and understand your decision not to return. As always we would welcome the opportunity for you to reconsider and experience the high level of service we normally deliver
