We arrived at FORD'S late in the afternoon and after having a brief friendly chat with what appeared to be the manager we started with two long black coffee's.
The coffee was made with skilled hands. The staff was obviously well trained in making a good coffee (the way they handle the machine, i.e. cleaning after each cup etc.).
After the coffee we decided to try a tapas dish and we chose the fried shrimps with a garlic aioli. We got 4 perfectly fried shrimps which tasted delicious.
While we initially decided to only get a cup of coffee and a snack, our interest was evoked by the shrimps. Since we are from the Netherlands and we heard that the chef is Dutch as well, we decided to take a second typical Dutch dish: the Bitterballs. While in Holland this is usually seen as a 'fastfood snack' this definitely was something else. Once again: very good!
So, we decided to take the fish of the day as the main dish, and since our hunger was stilled a little bit already we split the fish together. Not a problem at all and we even got it served at two different plates. Meanwhile we had some lovely chats with one of the waitresses, which made our stay even more pleasant.
As a dessert we took a chocolate tart: served with yoghurt ice cream, some mint, chocolate sauce and on the tip of the iceberg we got some cherries as well. This, along with two more coffee's got our tummies filled with some delicious dishes.
The smooth music made the whole stay even more enjoyable and we will definitely be back next time when we visit Nelson! Thanks a lot staff of Ford!
