“Some amazing architectural properties”

The outside is pretty standard when it comes to religious buildings, but the true gems are the stained windows, and the interior along with the organ. Quite a piece of art. Well worth a stroll around.

“Worthwhile”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

Sitting at the head of Trafalger Street, overlooking the town below, views amazing from the outside, and then once inside, some interesting history of the current cathedral, and its earlier model. Some very good stained glass windows,

“Christchurch Cathedral, Nelson”

I have been affiliated with this Cathedral for a long time. I actually sung in the Choir there is 1962. A great many changes since those days as the Cathedral has been changed with a new frontage.
We went there on Xmas eve and really enjoyed all the Xmas trees that were on show there. Would love to attend more services there but it is a long way from where I live.

“Well worth a look inside”

The steps leading up to this church are a little taste of Europe. The honeycomb bell tower is an interesting feature, but the strained glass windows inside the church are its best point.

Recommended.

“You have to go inside...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2013

because the outside is nothing spectacular but the inside is a real treat, and the cathedral is wonderfully informative and well signposted. The huge stone columns and the enormous organ are two of the highlights of this church. It is hard to believe you are in a medium sized (by New Zealand standards) provincial city when you see the size of this cathedral. It was a really nice place to send an hour.
