“Delicious lunch in lovely building.”
Reviewed 9 April 2014 via mobile

Stopped here for lunch. The building is beautiful with lovely tea rooms. We ordered the baked fill Brie and confit duck, both accompanied with a salad. Both very nice dishes. Couldn't help but have dessert here - we ordered the brownie and a piece of blackberry and orange mascarpone cake - delicious. Good range of teas here, I had the apple and cinnamon tea while my husband had coffee which he said was good.

“Sumptuous high afternoon tea”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

My sister and I came to Melrose house after a search on the internet for a treat. We were not disappointed. We were met by the very friendly and lovely Jess. We selected Pink lemonade and Chai Latte from the hot and cold drink menu. The hot drink was in a beautiful bone china cup. The three tier cake stand included BLT sandwiches, mini pastry, mini Crème brûlée topped with fresh berries, chocolate dipped cream filled profiteroles, warmed scone filled with Camembert ham and tomato, mini lime curd tartlet topped with fresh fruit and dark chocolate brownie. Afterwards we had a walk through the historic grounds and garden. A wonderful experience and highly recommended as a treat.

“Scrumptious GF cake with tea at a beautiful historic house.”
Reviewed 10 March 2014 via mobile

Best gluten free chocolate cake I've ever had. We came to see the house and garden, but sitting on the porch and enjoying the English tea really made it a highlight of our Nelson visit. Don't miss it!

“Kind of cool cafe”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

This place has many inconsistencies.
- Very classy location and gardens but we were greeted like long lost friends
- Great food with surprisingly pretty reasonable prices
Definitely an excellent choice for breakfast / lunch or a coffee.
A very charming building (even if you are not into that sought of thing)

“Fantastic cakes”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

Came here on recommendation from B&B and not disappointed. Lovely setting. I had orange blackberry and marscapone cake and husband had chocolate cake - both served with berries... fabulous! Can't assess full meals but looked good!
