We really enjoyed our two nights at this old B&B. The friendly hosts really made us very welcome in their lovely home. The chocolates and sherry were an added bonus. David's extensive knowledge of the local and wider environment was of assistance to overseas visitors such as ourselves. Rosanne & John Munns Queensland Australia.

We had 3 nights at the Cambria House to explore the Nelson area. This is a first rate B&B with wonderful rooms, nice outdoor area, wifi, TV and comfortable common areas. The breakfast is exceptional and they have wine available to purchase to have in your room if you didn't take the time to pick something up during the day. Attractive place and relaxing. Our only complaint was low water pressure in the shower but not a big deal. Every little thing was provided for as you would expect from an experienced Inn keeper. It's an easy 10 min. walk into Nelson.

We have just come back to the UK after spending nearly five weeks in New Zealand, easily the most extraordinarily beautiful and spectacular country we have ever visited. Although based in Christchurch with our daughter, we toured the South Island extensively and experienced a wide range of accommodation of differing quality. Easily the best, although closely followed by The Brothers in Dunedin, was Cambria House in Nelson. This is an absolute gem. Beautifully furnished and appointed, our room was exquisite with the most spacious and roomy bathroom you could imagine. The lounge was equally comfortable and a delicious cooked breakfast at a large dining table was a perfect opportunity to share experiences with fellow travellers. After staying almost exclusively in large chain hotels, we had forgotten what a joy it is to connect with others "on the road". The owners were welcoming and full of excellent information. We cannot imagine returning to NZ without a stopover in Cambria House and Nelson itself, which is well worth a visit.

We moved from another highly rated B&B in Nelson but it was no match for this one ! We had a superior room which was large, very comfortable with a gorgeous bathroom and very quiet. The hosts could not have been more friendly and helpful in all respects. A lovely couple with whom we felt immediately at home . Breakfasts were excellent and the house and courtyard had much character. The position too was convenient with a 10 minute stroll into Nelson centre. Highly recommended by us and certainly one of the best stays during our month in New Zealand !!

Room Tip: Whilst we noticed that other rooms were attractive, the superior room was particularly well worth ch...

What a joy to stay here. Came home with house envy. Comfortable and spacious accommodation. Lovely breakfast in a family friendly dining room where you get to eat with other guests around a huge table and share stories. Karole and Dave could not have been more helpful, booking a trip to Abel Tasmin national park for us. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Wonderful stay, highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our two night stay at this delightful property, within a 15 minute walk to Nelson town.Karel and David made us feel really at home and as they are N.Z born and bred had a vast knowledge of this beautiful country.
Our room was very comfy although we did find the en suite rather small (a minor detail).Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and top ingredients.Another nice touch was the free wi fi which in many of the big hotels you have to pay for.If you need to book any trips Karel is always there to arrange it for you.Parking is close at hand at the front of the property.

We stayed at Cambria House at the end of a tour of South Island. We had family near by so this was an obvious choice for us to stay at Cambria House as the location was perfect. However, we do not think we could have picked a better place ourselves, it was perfect in every way. The hosts, Karel and David could not do enough for us and were informative yet respectful of our privacy. They were flexible with our arrival and departure times to suit our ongoing plans and the place itself is just beautiful. The breakfast is plentiful with a large variety to choose from and the added free wifi was just incredible. If you don't have your own device there is a pc for your use, this is very rare in NZ but so useful for keeping in touch with home. We would not hesitate to stay again and would highly recommend anybody wanting to stay close to the centre of Nelson without all the bustle.
