We stayed here for two nights before our bike trip from Nelson to Queenstown and we were glad we did. It was the perfect place to start our exploration of the South Island.
The house: a beautifully restored classic New Zealand home on a hillside above the bay with a huge view of the water and the mountains in the distance. Superb.
The hosts: Richard and James are natural hosts-- warm, welcoming, easy-going, and enthusiastic. We really enjoyed meeting them and they made us feel at home. Wonderful.
Our room: we had the room without a view (on the entrance level of the home) and it was just fine since we would simply walk upstairs and join the other guests on the pretty porch for cocktails and a view. Nice.
We heartily recommend Te Puna Wai Lodge.
