This is a 120 year old Victorian house with a spectacular view of the ocean, beautiful gardens. Because of a cancellation, we were generously upgraded to a suite that had beautiful views, remodeled bathroom. There were fresh roses from the garden in the bedroom and bathroom, folk art from local artists, and the breakfast included fresh fruit, an omelet to die for with herbs from the garden, cheese, spinach, avocado, (you could have whatever you wanted) and granola and yogurt. Very gracious and informative hosts. We have stayed in B&Bs in New England; this was the best.

The owners run a fabulous establishment. They are friendly, hospitable, and have a beautiful home that overlooks the sea and mountains in the area. They serve delicious breakfasts, and are very helpful with information on excursions and things to do in the city. They even put the flag of my country up at their home for my arrival. The gardens are beautiful, they have an amazing patio from which one can relax, read, and just take in the scenery. Though not located in the main drag of Nelson (it is about a 30 minute walk), it is well worth the slight inconvenience of not being central to enjoy the scenery and hospitality.

There are more than one reason to remember our staying in Te Puna Wai, the top location and breathtaking view to the sea, with an exquisite architecture and cozy chambers recreated a perfect nest for two love birds, we enjoyed so much the company of our kind hosts Richard and James, very attentive and helpful all times ...breakfast at Te Puna Wai is quite an unique experience, a relish for the senses!

Everything is perfect : big rooms with dramatic views ! Everything is clean.
If you choose the big room downstairs you can cook in the wonderfull kitchen and you can clean your clothes!
Your hosts are perfect : very helpfull ; they speak all the languages you could imagine.
And the cooked breakfast is excellent.
A very nice place to relax yourself.
Just one thing : be carefull when you park your car! (slope and not too much visibility).

Fantastic room, clean, full of tasteful character and great service. We're usually hesitant about B&Bs because of the hosting , but Te Puna Wai were perfect. Sociable, sensitive and very interesting and well travelled hosts. The breakfast was delicious and well catered for vegetarians.

This is now our favourite B&B. The food, views, beds, decor, location and conversation could not have been better. They even offered to drop us off to a Museum and flew the Greek flag from their flag pole when they found out my husband was born in Greece. Need we say more! It is like we have discovered buried treasure! We'll be back asap.

In our month long trip to NZ, Te Puna Wai was the standout accommodation we stayed at, hands-down. There is a reason this B&B is consistently rated so highly on Trip Advisor, as it has it all. The B&B is a picturesque, charming Victorian overflowing with lovely gardens and a front patio with a view to die for. Owners Richard & James are wonderful hosts and have taken great care to create a truly memorable place. The accommodations were beautifully appointed, without being fussy or too pretentious. It was just a very comfortable, relaxing place to come back to after a day of sightseeing. The cooked to order breakfast was delicious and the special trip to the farmer's market for fresh flowers was just a regular small touch that added to the experience. We stayed in the combined Haulashore & Wakatu rooms on the 1st floor while traveling with friends. The full kitchen was a lovely surprise, stocked with cold drinks, including beer. The B&B is just a short drive to downtown Nelson, which is only a minor sacrifice when you have the views we got to wake up to each morning.
