“B&B with character!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014 via mobile

If you're looking to stay in a piece of Nelson history look no further than this B&B. There is a quaint English garden entrance to the grand ballroom (where a delicious breakfast is served) plus the welcoming black Labrador (Vicky), makes Warwick House a point of difference. We enjoyed most aspects of it. Probably what would have made us score a '5' rating is more to do with our room - for instance, we would have loved an electric blanket on the bed given the cold Nelson nights now (maybe an extra blanket to be stored in the room?) and a wardrobe (there were hooks and hangars provided with a small dresser). The lead light window in the bathroom was nicely designed and though frosted we did still feel a bit exposed without a blind up. Lovely touch with having a couple of towelling robes though! All in all a pleasant short stay visit.

Warwick House is beautiful. We loved hearing about the history of the house from Nick, who was very welcoming when we arrived. Our room was lovely and we had a great nights sleep. We were booked to meet friends, who were staying at a different location, in town for dinner. Nick gave us great directions and we had a lovely walk along the river there and up the hill back. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you are going to Nelson and we hope to stay here again in the future.

Warwick House is ideally located for a short walk (down hill) into Nelson - get a taxi back! Nick & Jenny were very welcoming, breakfasts were great and our accommodation was lovely - Jenny kindly remade the bed on our arrival to twins rather than King size. I would definitely recommend a stay here for the character of the place alone!

I had the pleasure of staying at Warwick House for a week over Easter. I stayed in the Bayview Suite which was spectacular, with plenty of room to relax and sit when not exploring the beautiful Nelson area. Nick & Jenny were wonderful hosts, providing a lot of information about what to see and do, and helping book things as required. The house is beautifully situated, just a short walk from the main centre of town - great to walk to and from the many terrific restaurants, markets and galleries. Staying for a week, I really enjoyed the privacy, warmth and space of the home, and the hospitality of the hosts. Breakfast in the magnificent ballroom is also a great way to start the day! Would definitely recommend staying here, particularly for more than one night so you can really appreciate everything the region has to offer.

Room Tip: The Bayview Suite is magnificent.

We were looking for a very interesting place to stay for our two nights in Nelson and we came across this beautiful manor home and booked two rooms in advance of our trip; one for us and one for the other couple we were travelling with. (The Tower Suite and and the Bayview Suite.) We arrived later than expected to the B&B due to a torrential downpour and road closures and we received a very warm welcome from Nick and Jenny and their adorable black lab, Victoria. We visited with Nick and Jenny in the beautiful and spacious ballroom and they were so interesting to talk with. They were so kind to make us a dinner reservation at a wonderful restaurant in town. We were settled into our gorgeous rooms, which were very beautifully decorated and extremely clean. The next morning we arrived in the ballroom for a delicious breakfast and met the other guests. Nick spent time talking to each party and advising us what there was to see in and around the Nelson area. We toured all day and that evening we bought wine, cheese, meats, crackers and fruit and invited Nick and Jenny and another guest to join us for a get-together and we had a wonderful evening! We very highly recommend this place for all venturing to the Nelson area! Both Nick and Jenny are extremely helpful and very gracious hosts! We know you will thoroughly enjoy your stay at this beautiful manor home!

My husband Mark and I stayed at the Warwick House along with another couple durning the Easter Holidays of April 2014. Our accommodations were in the "Tower Suit". We loved the charm and quaintness of the rooms and there was no doubt that if the walls could have talked there would have been some awesome stories to listen too. We arrived durning the hurricane that hit New Zealand. Our Host and Hostess (Nick and Jenny) were gracious and warm and made us feel so welcome and at home. They welcomed us with a very good bottle of wine, which was so welcome after such a stressful drive from Kaikoura in so much rain. We loved meeting the other guest that were staying there and the times spent at meals with all was so interesting and fun. Breakfast was served according to "OUR" time frame and was extremely good and the portions were more than enough! One night we brought in cheese, bread, wine and a few other odds and ends and Nick and Jenny along with another guest joined our group. That was a wonderful time that we will always cherish and share with others. Nick and Jenny are very knowledgable of the area and shared some wonderful information. The warwick House is an historic landmark in Nelson and is being restored back to its beautiful beginning by Nick and Jenny. We loved our time spent here and would highly recommend this get away to all! Thank you Nick and Jenny for sharing your dream and beautiful home with us. I want to go back!!!!

The Warwick House is glorious. Our guest room was spectacular and the facility and grounds were amazing. We were a little disappointed with the breakfast portion of our stay. We were advised that the full breakfast was not served until 8:30 am - a little late considering that most vacation tours in and around Nelson start at 9, so we had to forego the breakfast portion of our stay which was so sad that we were unable to enjoy the beautiful dining room of the facility. We were also disappointed with this set-up given that every single b and b and holiday house that we stayed at in New Zealand accomodated our travel by asking us what time we wanted breakfast. Just a minor note, but something to be aware of if you're travelling in this area; there are so many wonderful things to see in this awesome country, who doesn't want/need to be on the road bright and early?

Room Tip: Double check breakfast availability times and plan your excursions/travel around them.

Dear Helen,

Thank you for your review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay.

We are quite puzzled by your comments regarding breakfast times.

Full breakfast is always available from 8am onwards. For guests leaving for activities
earlier than 8am we also offer a room service breakfast tray.

This infomation is all listed in the room folders.

Normally the breakfast timing and following days' activities are discussed when you check in.

Our apologies if there was some misunderstanding during your stay. - Certainly we would have been available to serve you a full breakfast from 8am if this had been requested.

Hopefully your onward travels in New Zealand were enjoyable.
