“Good location but wouldn't recommend”
Reviewed 26 April 2009

We stayed here 3 nights on a month tour of New Zealand. The location is good, walkable to centre and good base for Able Tasman. Our room was very dark , with dark grey/green/brown furnishings. On getting into bed the first night, we found the sheets did not look particularly clean and were very creased. It was too late to mention this at reception so we got into bed wondering who had been in before. I did ask as politely as possible the next morning if perhaps the sheets had been forgotten when cleaning the room. I was told that the cleaners take the sheets out of the tumble dryer and leave them somewhere until they are needed without folding them.
The rate of $6 per hour for the internet and $8 for wash and dry cycle of laundry (cold water only) was the most expensive of the motels we used.

We stayed here for two nights - en route to Abel Tasman coastal track and again when we finished our walk. The Kiwis really know how to do motels and this was no exception. The owners were really helpful and let us leave our luggage in their garage while we went tramping and gave us good local information. There is a big supermarket very close by - seems to be open all hours, even Sunday evenings.

Upstairs rooms have a balcony, but only a few are private (due to doubling as a route to other rooms) whereas most downstairs rooms have French windows onto the car park. Very close to supermarket (but not noisy as a result) and only a few minutes walk to the centre of Nelson. If you are staying anywhere in or near Nelson do not miss the World of Wearable Art and Collectible Cars a few miles south on SH6 – the wearable art way exceeded expectations.

We visited this motel just 10 days ago and found it to be a clean, pleasant place to stay and were happy to have found it for our nights stay in Nelson. It was very convenient to all shops and restraurants and the reception staff were helpful and friendly.
Would not hesitate to stay there again if in Nelson N.Z.

We arrived in Nelson and just booked one of the first motels we passed. There was a cute little balcony off the room which would have
been great for drinking some wine, had the weather been nicer, but it
was rather chilly when we arrived. The motel served its purpose, comfortable and clean.
