“Magnificent customer service and great location”
Reviewed 19 March 2014

Great central location close to the beach, just off the main street and with a large park immediately in front of it. I must say these guys have amongst the best customer service I have ever experienced anywhere. The staff are friendly, welcoming and polite. The Hotel is well appointed and the only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is the bedding. Not sure if it is the same in every room but our beds were TERRIBLE, it literally sank over 2 foot (and I am not heavy) and if you moved even slightly during the night the mattress would flip off the base. Please guys upgrade your beds that's the only negative for what is a great and well run establishment. If you are planning on a stay in Nelson I definitely recommend these guys (just tell them you want a room with new beds)

We arrived late afternoon, took our luggage upstairs to our room, changed and WALKED to the beach. Perfect end to a long day. Suggestions were given for close places to eat and she also made our reservation for our "Ecotour" It felt more like a B&B with the care given. We only stayed 2 nights but will go back next time in Nelson. I liked that it was not close to town........much quieter.

The lady at the reception desk was very friendly. The room we got had 3 beds in it but we got it at a cheaper rate and it was clean with a nice bathroom. The breakfast was good as well at no extra cost we had muesli and yogurt, toast with jam and coffee. It is served until 9 am though so you must get up early enough to take a shower, pack and eat. The beach across the field is a bonus if the weather is warm.

Our mountain view room actually had a view of a hill with houses! Closer still was a scaffold yard where they start throwing scaffold on to lorries at 07:00, followed by calor gas deliveries to the pub next door to the yard at 07:15 and then guest trundling cases and car doors slamming at 07:30.

However, you'll want to be up early for breakfast which is 07:30 until 09:00. This is in a large, airy room which would also be ideal for a touring group meeting room.

Very clean with comfortable beds, bedrooms small but with rather large bathrooms. Good shower. Bathroom floor tiles are vey slippy, stand on towel mat!

Parking is tight in the grounds, we parked on the road. We were advised not to park on the far side of the road (local regs).

Walk across the park opposite and through the sand dunes to find a very nice beach with shallow water extending out a long way.

Inclusive wifi was very good, best yet on our trip.

A nice location with a comfy bed and excellent shower, no room for suitcases so we kept one in the bathroom. We had a mountain view room, no Mt just a hill with housing overlooking the back of a pub and a scaffolding business, also noisy from the main road, should have spent the extra and got an ocean view room which would be quieter.
The breakfast was basic tho I have had a lot nicer basic breakfasts. Free wi-Fi was a bonus and overall good value for money.

Room Tip: Ocean view would be quieter.

We stayed here for 1 night and used it because it was close to the airport (about 5 minute drive) it was a long walk to the town centre so I wouldn't recommend if you were staying in Nelson for that. The room itself was quite basic but we had nothing to complain about. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was alright, just the usual cereals, tea coffee etc.

Check in was friendly and efficient. Hotel is very clean and the staff make every effort to make you feel welcome. We were given good advice re where to eat, what to see and directions etc.
Room was basic. Bed was comfy but pillows very poor quality. Bed linen and towels were clean, if well worn. Good quality tea, coffee and biscuits were provided. Limited storage space but we only stayed 2 nights so fine for us. Our room looked onto a working yard which was very busy and noisy from 7.30 each morning. Again, no problem to us but may be if you like a lie in. Bathroom was large with a good shower and lots of hot water. However it was cold as the only heating was a towel rail.
The breakfast consisting of cereal, toast and preserves was of very good quality and kept well stocked.
Location was fine, lovely to walk in the park and along the sand. Town was a 40 minute walk along a busy road.
Would stay again if in Nelson.
There was a computer for guests use in the lounge and laundry facilities.
