“Modern luxury with old fashioned hospitality”
Reviewed 26 February 2013

If you enjoy friendly hosts, superb home-style cooking, luxurious well appointed rooms and stupendous views across the bay to distant mountains then look no further than Parautane Lodge, just a ten minute drive out of Nelson. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights and really appreciated the kind hospitality of Alan and Candace who fed us splendidly and even smiled at my corny jokes. The view from the deck is spectacular and don't miss the outdoor spa at night for a special treat.

What a wonderful break away after a very hectic 2012. I wish we could have stayed longer. To be met after we arrived with freshly baked cookies and a welcoming Alan was great. Breakfast was everything you could want and more. Neither of us found the drive into Nelson any problem when we went into town for dinner and our return in the dark was also no problem. To watch the stars whilst sitting in the spa was not only romantic but very relaxing. It is a shame more B & B's don't have this level of service and quality of stay.
Our next trip to New Zealand will hopefully see us returning to this spot for another stay, longer this one.

We stayed for the weekend and were absolutely blown away. The hospitality was amazing and not in-your-face. The rooms were lovely and luxurious - loved the bathroom. Everything was super clean and spacious. Superb views and lots of areas to lie in the sun and relax. Lovely breakfasts - and so much that we didn't need lunch! Wished we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are great with good views.

On the outskirts of Nelson but only 10 minutes to the centre of town but a really great location and well worth the travel. Drive up is a gravel road, but is in much better condition than most NZ gravel roads, take it easy and you'll be fine. Well setout lodge with all modern features and the most friendly and helpful hosts. The view from the deck and our room was fantastic with loungers and BBQ available to use. We were there over Christmas and were made to feel like family and thoroughly spoilt with yummy food....loved the waffles!!! and enjoyed the spa in the evening on the edge of the hill, again AMAZING view.

Found a deal on Grabone & I am so glad we got it. The drive up the hill is a bit rough, but our little car made it no bother. Didn't drive back in the dark though. The rooms are of a high standard, the bed was really comfortable and having that view to wake up to every morning was perfect! The breakfast was really tasty too. & the afternoon cookies were soo good! I enjoyed sitting on the terrace, looking out at the world. It was very peaceful. I would definitely recommend staying here.

This is a great place to have a break and just relax. I had time to read the Guest book for the past seven years and did not find one complaint in any of them. Just consistent praise for the outstanding views, the hospitality and care and concern shown by all the staff, superb breakfasts, and not forgetting the spa. We had a lovely stay here and would recommend it without hesitation.
