If you want an exclusive villa right in the middle of 70 acres of land with no one else around, immersed in luxury and stunning views then think no further than Eagle's nest.
Amazing place manned by some amazing staff, William, the manager catered to our every need and was prompt and courteous every time.

Room Tip: First light is the best if you are a honeymoon couple, although go at a time when the villa just in...

You do not have to be a celebrity to enjoy the privacy, tranquillity and great service that the Eagles Nest has to offer. It was our second trip there and we are already planning the next one.

When we planned this New Zealand getaway, the biggest question was how to accommodate all our needs. Enough sightseeing for the European part of the group to justify the long distance travel and not too much travelling around re-packing the suitcases every other night. The solution was quite simple, stay at the Eagles Nest and use it as our base for discovering the northern tip of New Zealand - based on our previous experience we knew we would not be disappointed.

From making the booking - they do remember you from the previous time including your food allergies - to the arrival and being greeted by the manager with the champagne perfectly chilled. Yes, they are really expecting a call when you board the ferry in Opua so that everything is ready for you....

We stayed both times at the Eyrie Villa, two beautifully appointed bedrooms each with their own ensuite; large open floor living and dining area; and a deck area with pool and spa that you do not want to leave - we did less day trips than originally planned! The decor is modern and very sophisticated with technical entertainment equipment I would like to have at home.

The accommodation is self-service unless you request your own personal chef, which we have not done yet. The complimentary breakfast provision are chosen for the food lovers in mind and leave nothing to desire - you can always complete them with the other provisions in the fridge (very reasonably priced) or check out the supermarket in Paihia.
What we have done though is order their sumptuous picnic hampers to take away, if you are looking for a day trip off the beaten track and am worried about going hungry, this is the way to go!

It's the little things that add up making the Eagles Nest so special. I know it sounds quite ridiculous but have you ever:
- played hide and seek with housekeeping because they keep on misplacing things at different spots? This won't happen at the Eagles Nest...
- wondered when they will do your rooms? In the Eagles Nest they ask you at check-in for your preferred service time. And yes, if they see you are at home ,you get a call confirming that it would still suit you for them to come around or if you prefer a later time.

In addition, the staff is very happy to assist in every other way:
- looking for some place to wine and dine - they make a few suggestions and do the booking for you.
- want to go on a day sailing trip without one hundred of you new best friend? They chose the perfect day, with sunshine and wind, and make arrangements. You get even asked for your preference of boat, we went for the cruising type of boat and not the racey one....
- want to indulge? Make a booking for a in-house spa treatment. What a treat, lying on the deck, enjoying the scenery and feeling very relaxed and pampered.

So, if you want the celebrity treatment without being one – this is the way to go!

Read any other review. The place is gorgeous, the staff very accommodating, and there were no, repeat no, glitches. Stayed in the 3 bedroom house. Feels like you have left the world behind--but not the French champagne.

Room Tip: Choose by size of your group. We were five and fit perfectly into a 3 BR house. No one argued for th...

Eagles Nest could not be more perfect. My fiancé and I wanted to get married in New Zealand and researched numerous places before deciding upon Eagles Nest – we definitely made the right choice! We stayed in the “First Light” villa. It was beautifully decorated, spacious, private, and had out-of-this-world views in every direction. In addition to being a fabulous place to stay, Eagles Nest provides great cuisine with the option of a private chef (Keith was great). The First Light villa had a beautifully equipped kitchen complete with provisions for making a gourmet breakfast each morning of your stay. The surrounding property is also beautiful and provides a private/peaceful place to take a morning or evening stroll.
As with almost accommodations, the people you interact with are what make the difference and that that is definitely where Eagles Nest goes over the top. Kelly and Callum were wonderful. We not only stayed at Eagles Nest but it also provided the perfect setting for our wedding. Planning a wedding in New Zealand in three month’s time while living in the US was quite a challenge, thank goodness we had Kelly. She was caring, responsive and all around wonderful. Kelly sent us a list 2-3 Celebrants, Photographers, and florist to choose from. We reviewed the websites of each and made our selections. Our Celebrant (Tom Baker), Photographer (Rachel with Two Little Starfish) and our florist (Wendy with Putts Green Florist) could not have been better. Kelly coordinated everyone’s arrival on the day of the wedding and somehow even made the rain stop and the sun shine for our wedding ceremony. She went above and beyond and acted as a witness. We cannot say enough great things about Eagles Nest, its staff and New Zealand – if only we could have stayed longer. We will be back. Thank you for making our wedding day memorable.

Room Tip: If you are traveling as a couple, the First Light villa is a perfect, romantic location.

A beautiful spot with fantastic accommodation options. We stayed in the two storey house and loved waking up to the magnificent views from our bed...even with the wet weather it was very romantic.
The outdoor fire is perfect to cuddle up in front of with a glass of wine.
Great service in that there was no one staying in the other house so we were able to use the outdoor pool and spa area - very cool for swimming in at night with the night lighting.

Room Tip: Depending on what you want - we visited the bigger house next door which had an outdoor pool and tha...

I've only read about it in the luxury travel magazine and I've never thought I would have the luck to spend a night at there. Eagle Nest is just so far away yet close to me. Until last Friday, I spent the very special moment at this very special place for 3 nights, we made the most of it at this loft style villa, healthy cute breakfast prepared by ourselves (complimentary provided by the resort) and shared with the native bird songs in a sunny morning..many glasses of champagne next to the fireplace with laughter..

This place is luxury in every aspect and you feel every penny you spent on this journey is totally worthy. You are in touched with the nature in every corner of the villa, from the bathroom, kitchen, hot tub, bedroom and its roof; yet you have all your privacy that you can walk naked freely around the villa. Every facility you can or have not thought about yet, they provide to you without any asking..

Just get spoiled till rotten, in this nest; and feel proud like an eagle when you take off..

Room Tip: They have winter special, stay 3 nights and pay for 2 nights only, for such high end pricing and qua...

This is an exceptional place - a true retreat from the world -- very secluded andluxurious though totally in touch with nature. With amazing views of the ocean and the hills around. Though quite expensive, we were given a discounted rate as it was the low season. Kelly made every effort to supply us with vegan and vegetarian breakfast options and went way beyond what we expected in stocking the house with coffees, juices, breads, cheese, peanut butter, fruits, vegetables, yogurt, milk, soyamilk, etc. She arranged for us to go sailing on a nice small sailboat with an expert sailor -- at a reasonable cost. There was an outstanding outdoor jacuzzi that we used every day. The furnishings were totally designer and first class - the sofa, dining table, kitchen appliances etc. We felt we were at home in a kind of dreamland. The fact that all the walls were glass gave us the feeling we were in nature. We like our bed to be firm and this was soft, but that was soon corrected as they switched the bed with another house. We ate all our meals at the house, as we enjoy cooking and it was a real pleasure here. Russell is a kind of cute town and we went for walkarounds a couple of times. Most of the time we spent at the house just relaxing -- which was just what we needed.

Room Tip: Ours was the one-bedroom "First Light" house -- it was great.
