Frimley Lodge Motel
Ranked #12 of 18 Hotels in Hastings
Reviewed 21 February 2013

I'm not that one who would give a bad review for a motel, but I disliked my stay! I am really disappointed.
We stayed in a studio apartment even though the place was fairly clean it did not have a nice atmosphere!
On arrival we were given our room key and told which room we were in, the owner didn't even have the decency to even show us to our room and explain the features.
Both me and my partner had the worst sleep, due to hearing the cars go passed every second.... I think I only got about 4 hours sleep that night! The bed in the motel was old and worn out, it must have been there since the 80's, the sheets were so faded and smelt dirty.
There were ants in the bathroom coming through the sink!!! This room was so dated with the tiled ceiling and looked like a retirement home!

We were going to spend 4 nights at this motel but ended up leaving just after one, that's how BAD the room was! We approached the owner of the motel early the next morning and explained we were leaving as we were disappointed with our room... the male owner was rude and arrogant and didn't even ask how he could make the room more comfortable for peoples stay, he just wasn't bothered!
We were kicking up a fuss about paying, as the room was $95 a night which I would say was far too over priced for such a room! He dropped the price to $80 which was ridiculous!!!! He even said he wanted us to pay $200 for the next day as we didnt say we wanted to leave in the morning! And told us we had signed the so called contract so had to pay him something!

I have seen way better accommodation such as The Quest in Napier, Kennedy park cabins and park side lodge!

I can see why they don't have any comments on their page!!!!
Just think before you book this place!!!

A little out of the center but modern , well equipped rooms with microwave, kettle, toaster, dishes and cutlery. Family run by pleasant and helpful hosts. Close to the town, shops and restraunts this is an excellent place to use as a base for visiting the area.

Room Tip: Rooms near the office are quieter.

I have chosen to stay here everytime I come up to Napier / Hastings simpy because Grant (the owner) makes you feel welcome, takes the time to know your name and provide a very professional and personalised service. There are a variety of rooms. They are kept clean, tidy and sutitable for a single or family stay. Location is perfect as it walking distance to main road / town centre.

Room Tip: Rooms are quiet and comfortable

The rooms are a decent size and all have basic amenities although the couch in the living room was old and had no support.

Rooms were clean and it was no problems grabbing extra milk, sugar etc if needed from reception.

This motel is about 20 mins walk to Hastings City centre and has car parks outside each room. Try to get a room away from the road as it is pretty noisy with the trucks etc.

I would stay here again and it is a good place to stop over for one night or two if you are travelling through the North Island.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the road and more towards the reception office.

This was a nice little motor lodge style place. Really friendly and accomodating reception team, very clean rooms, plasma tv,kitchenttes and nice bathrooms. Rooms closest to the road tend to be a bit noisy with passing traffic esp early morning but this place is great value for money if a little dated in decor. Would def stay again.

Stayed in the studio room which was the closest to the motel office, room very small but modern and no frills decor, tv and fan was tiny and barely worthwhile having, small bar fridge with tea and coffee and cookie. Bathroom very clean. Road noise was a bit of a problem in the morning, but otherwise it's a nice budget place to stay if passing thru.
