Whilst it is not a huge market, it's quality not quantity! We had handmade blueberry icecream, a peacharine thickshake, herb and garlic cheeses, countless fruits and so much more.

The produce is local, responsible (often organic), fresh and tasty. You don't need anything more.

Our visit coincided with the Horse of the Year show, so the market was a bit smaller than usual, but still well worth the visit.
A great place to go shopping for wonderful produce - fresh fruit and vegetables, pickles, chutneys, jams, meat, coffee and so much more.
Lots of the stall holders very happy to talk about their products and to offer samples with no pressure to buy, but of course you do as its all excellent.
We came away with full bags and marvellous food for the rest of our trip

This market is one of the reasons I'd gladly move to the Hawkes Bay. friendly stall holders and great atmosphere. Especially when it's outside. My favourite stands are the cake stall run by a man (sorry that's my best description) he sells the best lemon syrup cakes ever; the organic vegie stand; and the breads and pastry stand. Oh and also the pepper stand. Actually they're all good. Make sure you take a large bag and empty stomach.

If in the Hawke's Bay - You must get along to the Hastings Farmers Market on a Sunday morning.
Check locally for the dates, as I believe it only runs during summer (although I could be mistaken!), not sure what time it starts in the morning, but finishes up around 12noon. The market is situated underneath the big beautiful leafy trees in the park outside the showgrounds. There is a vast selection of fine local produce and artisan producers. Delicious organic, fresh, quality produce and specialty foods. Great coffee, food stalls, entertainment. I guarantee you won't come home empty handed. A very pleasant way to spend a Sunday morning. Highly recommended.

A superb market, showcasing all the good produce Hawke's Bay has to offer. I love the fact that there are no stalls with irrelevant knickknacks that so often spoil the atmosphere of other markets.
The setting is just lovely, you can get breakfast, there are tables and chairs, and live music - what a great experience! Being a food-lover, it makes me want to move to the area...
We were there on Art Déco weekend and picked up a gourmet breakfast bag for the Gatsby picnic in Napier - great choice.
