“Great company outshone the great food”
Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

With my beautiful family we had the set lunch menu. All our meals were absolutely delicious! 2 meals for $25 or 3 meals for $30. I had for entree the confit salmon with creme fraiche, capers & white balsamic. My main was the sirloin steak, spinach, steak fries & smoked garlic butter. My dessert was $10 extra as not on the set menu - was the chocolate soufflé, chocolate soil & chocolate chip ice cream. Total lunch cost $40 - rather pricey! So would have to say the great company made up for the cost!

“Top place to go!”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Serious brilliant. The staff were super attentive. The menu has been updated since my last visit and was amazing. The chefs under supervision of the head chef do a wonderful job. Couldn't have asked for a better dining experience.

“Not outstanding”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Impromptu Thursday night out with my husband. Restaurant was not busy yet service was a bit slow for my liking. It was blatantly obvious that waiting staff could/would not help out on tables that we're not their own. Fortunately the food made up for it.

“Whats on the menu ain't what you get”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

The restaurant was highly recommended but i left disappointed, the food wasn’t bad but the menu misrepresented what was served. I decided on 2 starters and T had confit duck with black pudding, lentil forest mushroom cassoulet and a side salad.
The squid starter read “Salt & chili squid, Asian greens, toasted sesame, and kaffir lime dressing “ on the menu, but what was served up was the squid while coated in a thin batter and nicely fried was topped with a handful of mung bean sprouts chopped coriander and spring onion and a dressing that was overloaded with fish sauce and no kaffir lime flavours, toasted sesame seeds or chilli. My second dish, the salmon cakes, tastewise was off, the cakes were kept in place on the black slate tile which they were served on with a dash of what must have been the lemon aioli (couldn’t detect any lemon or garlic flavours though). The green ‘blob’s down the side of the dish was topped with about a quarter teaspoonful (if that) of lumpfish roe, this must be the ‘caviar’ and how white balsamic dressing can be the green ‘blobs’ is not within my culinary understanding.
T had ordered the duck main as he is a big black pudding fan but his duck was served with a tasteless sausage and ‘forest mushrooms’ were re-interpreted to be shitake mushrooms.

I suggest that a menu review be made and descriptions adjusted as a respectful gesture to customers. I don’t like being treated like I wouldn’t know the difference.

“Very good service and value for money”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Went on a whim, having seen the set menu advertised, and were very happy that we did. Pork entree was melt-in-the-mouth delicious, kumara soup good on a cold winter's day-steak mains were great. All complimented by very good and attentive service. Highly recommended
