Millhills Lodge

A marvellous experience. Our hosts, Penny and Sam, provided exceptional hospitality and proved their culinary skills with a range of beautifully prepared home-cooked fare. The property is stunning - modern and state-of-the-art - and set in the lush countryside of Hawke's Bay. This is a perfect place to spend a few relaxed days and would also be ideal for any big event. Strongly recommended.

If you are looking for the perfect hideaway for a stunning relaxing retreat, set in the foothills of the Hawke’s bay countryside, look no further than Millhills Lodge. From the moment you drive into the sweeping country road you come across a beautiful lodge set in the valley, with the local wildlife your only neighbours. This dramatic setting encapsulates all that is New Zealand. The welcome from Sam and Penny sets the tone for a relaxed stay from the offset. The beautiful lodge and facilities are first class. Nothing was too much trouble and all food and drink superb. The eggs Benedict breakfast offered a hearty start too our intrepid day visiting the local cellar doors. Upon return we relaxed in the beautiful tranquil garden deck area and enjoyed a local bottle of New Zealand’s finest Pinot Noir!! The memories of magnificent Millhills lodge shared with my brother and sister in law have stayed upon my return to Bonny Scotland. Many thanks Sam & Penny and we wish you all the success that a true first class destination deserves.

For the ultimate Kiwi experience we can recommend Millhills Lodge. Located in the stunning Hawke’s Bay countryside we were immediately treated to the type of hospitality New Zealand is renowned for. Sam and Penny ensured us of a warm welcome before we wined and dined on home smoked fish, lamb cooked on the Bbq followed by Penny’s own inventive take on a Pavlova and of course all complimented by Hawke’s Bays finest wines. On retiring to the self contained studio we were overwhelmed, unfortunately I’m not a stargazer but couldn’t help being impressed by the star studded sky enhanced by the local wine consumed over dinner! Waking up to a stunning sunrise we were treated to a hearty breakfast overlooking the beautiful Hawke’s Bay landscape before we sadly had to take our leave and head back to Auckland. What a amazing experience made all the more memorable as I write this review from a wintry England. Thanks Sam and Penny and the best of luck in your new venture which we know will be a success.

Stayed with Penny and Sam for 1 night in February while attending a wedding. Unbelievable stay, couple couldn't do enough to make stay pleasant and easy, as we were on a tight timetable. Stayed in a lot of places, however these hosts were head above the rest. Went to no end of trouble to ensure that you felt like an old friend on arrival. (In fact even family dog greeted us and led us to the kitchen!) Place was tucked away in a quiet area of Havelock North and all attractions were still minutes away . We stayed in a private setting away from the main house in Super King Size bed, and an ensuite with a shower with a smooth bolder floor, which felt like you were showering in a warm waterfall.
Had breakfast, everything home made, and fresh and very yummy.
Downside – we could only stay one night.
Highly recommended and THE place to unwind and get spoilt.
