We have stayed here before, it is great location, plenty of beaches around, very tranquil place, lovely people, very clean cottage, comfy beds and lovely fluffy towels.
The cottage is situated on the outskirts of Garlieston, a handsome wee village embracing a bay in a very still part of Scotland. Everyone I met was pleasant and at ease, the landscape has cow-filled very green pastures, good tree belts, a palpable sense of history somehow enduring in the quiet towns and countryside, and ready access to the sea with its broad skies and sweeps of coast. The cottage was hard to find from the few directions given and it took me several goes to do so. Once found, it is delightful, well situated for exploring this corner of ``Scotland, and very well equipped and maintained for a comfortable stay.
This was a short notice long weekend and although the weather was a little wet, the cottage was warm and comfortable. It is well located to visit the area, the beaches to the south and the hills to the north are all wonderful. We will have no hesitation in booking this great cottage for a longer stay. Thank you
We absolutely loved Kilfillan Cottage, it was everything the previous reviews had said. We spent 3 nights there and didn't want to leave this well-stocked, clean, tidy, spacious, warm and comfortable home from home. The location was ideal, just 1 minute in the car from Garlieston, and close to many stunning beaches on the Machars Peninsula. It was surrounded by beautiful countryside and the only sounds you could hear were the birds singing and the cattle lowing. Perfect for peace and relaxation. We will definitely return.
We stayed at the cottage for 4 nights. Cottage itself was clean, well equipped and in good location for visiting surrounding area by car. Garlieston itself is very small with limited facilities e.g. shops and pubs. Would definately book this accommodation again if returning to this area. There are excellent walks and visitor attractions in the surrounding area.
We had a wonderful 4 nights at the Old Station. We camped in Fife last year (2 adults, 2 kids and our young Border Terrier) but with a new baby (11 weeks old) we needed some home comforts.
The cottage had everything you could want and more (we were delighted to find a George Foreman grill to help us keep on track with our healthy eating).
The milk, teabags and cake on arrival were a lovely touch.
Garlieston is roughly a15 minute walk and the beach is beautiful. It is about a 30 min drive to Aldi/Sainsbury's in Newton Stewart.
I highly recommend the cottage
