The border store is the only shop between Jabiru and Oenpelli in Arnhemland.
Located just before Cahill's crossing/east alligator river, which is known for it's abundance of crocs and near the famous rock art site of Ubirr.
It is ok for a takeaway lunch stop or for plenty of cool drinks.
Expect to pay a premium due to it's relatively isolated location.

Rounding off all the contradictions the Top End represents, a thai shack in Kakadu. As good a curry as anywhere in the world; as fresh too; as quick & as pleasant service.
Atmosphere rated low because it's not a destination in itself, so pls ignore.
8 of us lunched til we were satiated, trying pretty much everything on the menu. Not one whine.
Effortless class in the most outback location - only in the NT!
To the lady who's husband was sick (Trudy 473, Aug'13), it normally takes 36 to 48 hours before gastro hits. Perhaps he got it somewhere else?

Good lunch and plenty of variety on offer as long as you like Thai. Amazing to find this in the outback. Lunch was about $20 for a meal of chicken and stir fried veges in oyster sauce with rice. You can pick your style of dish by combining your pick of veges and your meat (chicken, beef, croc, tofu). Really nice. A hot day, we sat outside in the shade and enjoyed our meal.

With great hesitation I ordered a double strength coffee......my experience in the NT remote travel has given me reasons to go cold turkey off the coffee while travelling, especially when I have driven from Darwin to Alice Springs. But the Border Store was a huge surprise. The coffee was awesome, well done guys!
