hawk Dreaming has a 5 star price tag yet fails to provide an experience to match. Staff did a good job and made the stay comfortable however the camping ground itself is extremely basic with no treats which its competitors provide for less cost. Eg. A small fibreglass spa is classified as the pool. This is not a destination but a very expensive campground. Two other couples that arrived after us were shocked at the facilities or lack thereof. We all felt completely mislead by the promotional material. However given the venues nearby this had the potential to be an amazing place

This was our first overnight stop on our 15 day APT tour. The team at Hawk Dreaming raised the bar for all other wilderness lodges along the way, and not one of them matched Hawk Dreaming. The food was amazing, and I will say specifically that the steaks were cooked perfectly as was the barramundi. Well done! The camp takes a lot of heat because of the bugs in the area, but the houskeeping was flawless and there was not a cobweb or bug to be found in the tents. As for the bugs, the word "wilderness" is in the title so you should expect them. The dining area was screened in so we dined in comfort with open air and no bugs.

We spent two wonderful nights at Hawk Dreaming Wilderness Lodge, and would highly recommend it to any person wanting a very special experience in Kakadu. The accommodation is in 12 extremely comfortable en-suite tents, placed very strategically in the bush, which means you are in a smaller group of like-minded travellers. The hosts this season are the vivacious Vicki and knowledgable Richard and along with their very friendly and helpful staff they ensure you have a truly enjoyable time - nothing seems to be too much trouble, and the food is especially tasty. The tours we went on were both unique and inspiring in so many ways, and all our tour guides were very pleasant and helpful, and willing to answer most questions asked. The indiginous guides were fantastic in sharing their culture and history, and we certainly learnt much more about their lives than we ever had previously - and it was such a priviledge to do so. We recommend this travelling experience to everyone - and 2 nights is preferable to 1!! Terry and Jenny Thompson

Room Tip: The tents are all the same, although scattered around in the bush.
