This place is a must when visiting Kakadu. The campsite is an hours 4wd from the falls itself, with a crossing of South Alligator River along the way. For the not so fit or on a tight time frame, the boat trip to the base of the fall is excellent. However if you're up for it the climb to the top is magnificent. There a amazing rock formations and lovely, croc free, white sand swimming holes. We spent 3 hours up top just swimming and relaxing, taking in the beauty of the surrounds. So good we came back after a visit in 2013 and going back next weekend with our 3 kids.

Yet another example of the beauty and brilliance of remote northern Australia. You never tire of seeing more of our extreme environment.

A great day trip to twin falls and other places within Kakadu. Lunch, cool towels and guide was excellent. A must see.

Kakadu is at its most scenic here.

The towering gorge as you boat down past freshwater crocs is impressive. The waterfall "lagoon" and beach beautiful.

Best of all is a spectacular walk to the top of the escarpment - great views and it doesn't take nearly as long as is advertised.

In the dry season I much prefer it to Jim Jim.

The drive here, is just as much fun as arriving at your destination.
Don't forget to purchase a pass at Cooinda or the Bowali visitor centre.
It is accessible by high clearance 4WD only, especially with some deep river crossings.
Twin Falls (or Gungkurdul, which is the original indigenous name), is located about 80 km south of Jabiru.
60 km from the Kakadu Highway and near Jim Jim Falls.
Do both while you are in the area.
