This is an absolute 'must see' and there is no mistaking that you are in a very ancient land among these beautiful rocks. The walk in is flat, branch right towards the lookout then a small climb to the lookout and a loop walk back past the amazing indigenous rock art.......a totally beautiful place.

The walk around these art sites is wonderful. Easy to do and well worth it. The beauty of this environment along with the significance of the art really makes this place a must see in Kakadu. You don't need more than an hour to feel you have seen a lot.

This rock art site is easily accessible by car only about 12km off the main road. There are ranger presentations and plenty of tour groups to attach yourself to to hear about the details of the rock art. The area is well maintained with a 500 metre track up to the lookout where there are the most amazing views of the escarpment. Amazingly this is all free. You can buy the $25 Kakadu access pass from the rangers here.

Kakadu’s seasonal rangers run free activities are in the park from May through until October each yearleading free guided walks and talks, cultural activities and holding night-time slide-shows. They’re very popular. No need to book, just turn up and join in.
While you can sometimes buy a park pass at Nourlangie from a compliance ranger, it’s not the best place to pick one up. To be prepared, get a park pass online, or at the Bowali Visitor Centre or the Darwin Tourism Visitor Information Centre. Regards, Tanya.

We enjoyed a walk for a morning and were amazed at the range of plants and wildlife. There were plenty of really well detailed information boards to help us learn about the history connected with the amazing cave paintings. These were the highlight for us. We still look at the photos of our trip regularly! I would rate this as a must is you go to the Kakadu region.
