This site has wonderful history, and one can do a self guided tour with information sheets available at the gate (please leave it behind for someone else if you can). One can get a key on payment of a deposit in town, to see inside the buildings, but I was doing the tour alone on my way out of town. In addition to the information sheet, notice boards in front of each building give further information. There is enough to see without going in the buildings, and the information is a stark reminder to the challenges our early settlers and workers faced in this desolate dry place.
