We had a fantastic 3 night stay at The Arrow. Greeted by our host Tim who showed us to our suite and explained the short walk through the forest and by the creek into town. That track was used several times over our short stay ! Close to fantastic restaurants and only 25 kms into Queenstown (tho' once you're in Arrowtown and at The Arrow you don't want to leave !!) Tim served up a beautiful breakfast every morning in the 'secret cupboard' which always started the day off ! Thanks Tim and hope to see you again one day !

We stayed in the toi toi suite, and the hebe suite as a 2 room apartment during the weekend of the Motatapu challenge.
We were welcomed and well looked after by a friendly yet unimposing host Tim.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable, but don't have sky tv to watch the rugby or trackside, although we were too tired to be worried. The free wifi was a great bonus.
Breakfast was superb and a great start to the day.
A great wee walk through the trees into the township was very cool. Lovely restaurants and even found ourselves dining beside tim the host on our last evening.
We will return again, was a lovely sanctuary after a busy weekend.

We picked The Arrow based on the many excellent reviews and were not disappointed. The suites are impeccably designed (particularly if you like modern architecture) and a pleasure to come home to. The location is perfect, a short walk by the creek to the main attractions. And Tim was a great host with many helpful suggestions. The Arrow combines the best features of a small personal hotel with privacy and considerable style that would be hard to beat anywhere in the world.

I also found Arrowtown a great alternative to Queenstown, where I have stayed on previous visits. Close to everything (vineyards, bike trails, airport, bungy jumping if you're interested) and with some great spots for eating and drinking (our meal at Saffron was the best of our NZ trip and the bar next door is the perfect place for a late nightcap), and a surprising amount going on for such a small town. It was the perfect base for the last 4 nights of our trip.

The Arrow Private Hotel is boutique accommodation in stunning Arrowtown. We chose this place as it had close proximity for a wedding of close friends in February 2014. We stayed in the ToiToi Suite for four nights. The room was beautifully appointed and functional, and certainly the design captures all day sun which in turn heats the room perfectly. The bathroom with double shower, certainly speeds up getting ready any time of the day! Unfortunately commitments with friends and family didn't allow for drinks and canapés on arrival night (or any night there after). Breakfast via the "secret cupboard" was great and Tim always touched base with us on txt the night before to check the menu would suit! Thanks Tim we really appreciated that! We had parking for our vehicle...perfect....and rooms serviced daily. We will both return and look forward to seeing the landscaping improvements as this is the only room with a balcony and (devine sun loungers) for the small amount of time we spent in the room. Can only imagine the winter vista will be stunning.

Room Tip: ToiToi Suite, large, sunny, great facilities and the only deck to soak up views.

I will never forget my stay here - mainly because it's where I got engaged but for the great place too! Tim was super helpful secretly planning with my partner where he should propose and we celebrated afterwards will champagne and nibbles. The room was stunning in every way - 2 showers in 1! Also the breakfast was just amazing. A lovely couple of minutes walk into town along the river, the location was the best too. Couldn't have been a better place to make a special memory. (I don't think it has a fitness centre but I can't get rid of the rating that I accidentally clicked on!!)

What a great find The Arrow was-- the perfect place to spend the final two nights of our 3 week South Island holiday.

Tucked into a quiet residential pocket only a 5 minute walk from Arrowtown's fantastic restaurants and watering holes, The Arrow truly is refined casual elegance at its best. Tasefully decorated, spacious and subtley luxurious- hug soaking tub, double shower, super king bed, neat little ktichen area, heated towel rail (and underfloor heating in Winter) --the suites have wonderful mountain views, and so many little touches that make The Arrow a cut above the rest (Aveda toiletries, fluffy dressing gowns and slippers, huge pillows and a groovy little night light to the bathroom area).

And then of course there is Tim, the understated host of hosts. Arriving late on a Friday afternoon, with no real plans in place for what to do with our final two days of holidays, we soon found oursleves with a hard to secure table at La Rumbla that evening (courtesy of Tim's connections), a morning tee time with club hire and buggy at Millbrook Country Club, and one hour in-room massages organised for our post-Golf relaxation. Talk about being looked after!

But that was really only the start. Before heading in to town on the first night, Tim invited us to join him for a glass of wine and some delectible pre-dinner canapes on the veranda the guest lounge. A very pleasant and civilised way indeed to settle into your accommodation. Then there were the lovely breakfasts delivered to our suite each morning, and the unexpected turn down service on Saturday night, inlcuding all fresh towels and toiletries,

We have stayed in many beautiful private hotels and luxury B&B's in a variety of countries, and I can comfortably say that The Arrow is up with the best of them, and all in a very relaxed, an unasuming manner that oozes class without showmanship.

One thing for sure-- we'll be back again one day.

We originally planned to stay for two nights, but our experience was so good we ended coming back for two nights more.

Tim was a friendly, charming host intent on making our stay as delightful as possible. It was the little things that made it a cut above - the umbrella by the door when it started to rain; breakfast as we wanted it, when we wanted it; and pleasant conversation over pre-dinner drinks. The rooms are quiet, modern, stylish and comfortable, with uninterrupted views to the trees and hills backing Arrowtown.

The hotel is located a short walk from the centre of quaint yet sophisticated Arrowtown. We usually took the route through the scenic, tree-lined walkway alongside a babbling stream - the perfect start and end to our evenings. We have to add that the meal we ate at La Rumba restaurant was among the best we have had, but everywhere we ate was good.

There is no better way to enjoy the best that central Otago has to offer.

It was fabulous to have you stay and many years since we last met up in Auckland. We are very fortunate to have so many great restaurants, cafes and bars just over five minutes walk from the Hotel.
Hope to see you down here again sometime soon.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Arrow Private Hotel is an Arrowtown Boutique Hotel just five minutes walk from the centre of Arrowtown. With very contemporary design and styling, the Hotel recently won a prestigious architecture award and guests frequently comment on the attention to detail in the suites. In contrast, a historic stone cottage is the central meeting place at the Hotel. It is used as the reception area and as a house bar for evening refreshments and canapes. The roaring fire is very welcoming on a cold winters evening and many a tale has been told before guests walk into Arrowtown for their evening dinner. The Private Hotel is recognised one of the best Arrowtown B&B's. It operates more like a luxury lodge with each of the suites having its own private access and a hot cooked breakfast is delivered to each suite daily via a secret cupboard. With only 5 suites we are able to provide a very personal and private service . Adventures of all levels are not far away from the Hotel. Walking and cycling trails run right past the base of the Hotel which backs onto Coronet Peak Station. The Arrow Private Hotel is 20 minutes drive from the Coronet Peak ski field, from the Gibbston Wine region and from Queenstown. There are also 3 great golf courses within 5 minutes drive. ... more   less
