Owner description: Arrowtown’s surprises at every corner with new activities, restaurants, cafes and accommodation options. You don’t have to dig far in this sophisticated, yet quaint village to find why this charming town oozes heritage whether the newly restored miner’s cottages, the latest exhibit at the Lakes District Museum or the magnificent trails. Arrowtown is renowned for its café and restaurant culture. Whether fine dining, or enjoying a casual pizza or pie, there are delicious options for every budget and time span. Boutique beers and local wines are just some of the beverages on offer. Arrowtown’s tree lined streets, shops and cafes housed in original buildings and its proximity to walking /cycling tracks, vineyards, golf courses and ski fields, make it a must visit destination. Arrowtown sits only 20 minutes from Queenstown and a mere 15 minutes from Queenstown airport.

“Beware, it gets very crowded in the summer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

This is a delightful old mining village with many of its shops still in the original buildings. However, as with all 'tourist' towns, this one has now got too many shops selling touristy gifts. Fortunately, there are some good eateries here so you can get away form the crowds and just absorb the atmosphere of this historical place.

“Historical and quaint”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

I suggest that if you are planning on travelling to this part of New Zealand you do it in early Autumn (Apr-May) - the visual of changing trees and reflections is spectacular!

“A lovely stop off”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2014

We stopped off in Arrowtown on our way to Queenstown and really enjoyed our few hours here.
It's set on the river and has a goldmining heritage. There is a high street of shops, but these are inkeeping with the goldmining theme and we really enjoyed wondering around looking at all the things on offer.
Highly recommended stop-off if you're heading to / from Queenstown.

“Autumn Festival”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2014

We had a lovely day at the festival - a street parade and market and then sat in the Autumn sun having Devonshire tea followed by a glass of wine - then dinner later that night at Saffron! Best oysters I have ever eaten in my life!

“Plenty to see”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014

Arrowtown is a lovely town to visit just a few miles from Queenstown. A regular bus serves Arrowtown from Queenstown. Allong with strolling down the main street you can try your hand at panning for gold (entrance fee for this). The town has a museum and decent places to eat. Arrow River Trail is a nice easy 1 hour walk though not suitable for wheelchairs.
