When I walked in I felt I found a gem in Arrowtown. The menu was interesting and totally unexpected as Arrowtown is not a big place. The menu had good choices of NZ European type food plus a few Asian influenced items. Portions are generous and I had one of the best curries in my life there. That is saying a lot because we do travel a lot and have visited numerous South East Asian countries and the Indian subcontinent.
Service was attentive and though we were at one end of the restaurant, at no time did we feel ignored.
We would definitely come back and though we stayed in Queenstown, we have not encountered a similarly interesting restaurant there.

Had a great meal at Saffron, would highly recommend the steak and blue cod. Great fine dining option and one we will certainly be returning to next time we are in arrow town.

Whitebait oysters bread and butter pudding I was so excited about the choices and I was not let down. This was the highlight of a long weekend in Queenstown. My husband had the 3 curries the flavours were amazing. Their own curry pastes and you could really tell. Thankyou so much for a fantastic night Pete and Mel.

“Bit over-hyped in my view”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Seven of us with a prior booking, table service was excellent, wine knowledge very good, we had a couple of fussy wine drinkers who were well looked after. Pretty decent quality food but nothing like the standard we were expecting. It was interesting to try the rather eclectic food options available but a few of the fundamentals were missing, over cooked dry crayfish, 5 meals arriving and the final two 20 minutes later, messy presentation, steaks over cooked. Uninspiring desert options. For these prices there are other options available, I feel Saffron are trading on past performances, or maybe we struck them on an off night. Sharp wait staff were the highlight for me.
