The views from Mount Coolum, both at the top and during the hike, are beautiful. It's so peaceful at the top, looking over the sea - especially on a beautiful sunny day.

The climb itself wasn't too difficult but still challenging enough to get our heart rates up and a bit sweaty! I recommend doing it in your gym wear. The climb has been adapted so there are rock 'steps' most of the way. There were plenty of young children making the climb.

In total it took us 1hr and 5 mins to do the round trip with about 15mins spent at the top. It's a really nice way to spend a weekend and we would do it again. Just be warned that there are no toilets at the bottom.

Well worth the steps. Good for all the family. Great views. Can be a little busy with Lorna Janes pushing past!

Being a Mt Coolum local for 20 years, have climbed this mountain hundreds of times (literally !) ... never get tired of the beautiful 360 degree views. Has become very busy now, and the dreadful coffee van right in the carpark detracts from the natural aesthetics of the mountain. Only climb during the week, weekends are way too busy.

we have been walking up Mt Coolum perhaps half dozen times over the past 10 years and we just did it again and it never disappoints. You need a moderate (not average) level of fitness. Kids needs to be at least 5 years old, preferably over 7 to enjoy the experience. I find it harder walking down, as you need to take care not to roll over on your ankle and it can be taxing on your knees. They have done a fantastic job in building all the steps, but there are still parts where it is just natural rock and this is a bit more challenging. Take some water and something to snack on for when you sit down at the top to enjoy the scenery. At the bottom we found a van selling mountain juice, didn't have any but it is an option for those wanting it. You can see some of the dinosaurs from Palmers Resort when half way up and the kids like that. You need to allow 1.5 hours some may do it quicker, some longer, it also depends on how long you want to sit up the top. We spent about 20 minutes up the top, looking at planes land, parachutes coming down and the beautiful beach. It's really a nice experience and we will do it all again at some point in the future.

The walk to the top needs some effort. It is challenging at times, but worthwhile.
Coming to the top you will be awarded with amazing views.
Wear a proper outfit and enjoy the moment.
