“Great layout, shame about the maintenance”

Palmer Coolum Resort Golf Course
Attraction details

This course is truly a championship course but it has had years of neglect with regards to maintenance. Memo to Mr Palmer - if you are going to buy a championship course, you need to maintain it to championship quality. Seems that the championship green fees are still in place though but the place does not have a golf course focus. Just hauling your clubs from the carpark to the pro shop gives you a first impression that golf is not the number 1 priority here. I cant see this being sustainable in the long run. Mr Palmer - Is it a golf course or a theme park? the each way bet that you are on at the moment looks like a loser. If the owner is not interested in golf then he should sell it someone who is. it is sad to see such a good golf course in such a shameful state of neglect.

I was playing golf in Brisbane\Sunshine Coast recently, and fellow golfers were very critical of the changes made to the resort, which now features a motor museum and Dinosaur theme park (in fact there is a T-Rex outside the clubhouse between 9th and 18th greens)

Don't be put off by this, you only aware of the dinosaurs for the first couple of holes. Once on to the 3rd, you don't encounter them again until the turn. The former PGA course has been modified, and is still a great test of golf, for all levels. The course was in great condition, and the greens fast and true. I played with a partner who was very sceptical about the changes, but by the end of the round he was planning to bring his mates back to this course.

I recommend a round here if you are anywhere around Brisbane\Sunshine Coast.

Had a great game with the Fairways and Greens in excellent condition today. Have been sceptical given the reviews but I would definitley recommend the course, value for money and come back anytime. Also, the staff were overly helpful and even delivered extra ice on the driving range. 10/10.

We went to have a coffee and check out resort and facilities but spent the entire time trying to swat mozzies. The ponds need to be cleaned as they are attracting them and it must dampen peoples enjoyment of the place....sorry to say I was not overly impressed

As a golfing group we have visited Palmer (Hyatt) Coolum Golf Course on many occasions (approximately 15). Our recent trip was extremely disappointing to say the least. Paying top price for a golf experience one would expect first class presentation of the course and service by the staff. I must say that neither was provided. The course is a first rate layout as we have previously enjoyed but on this occasion the presentation was woefully inadequate. Greens were poor, surrounds uncut, whilst generally the fairways were acceptable a few were poorly presented as were the tees. After the game on previous visits we were able to drive the golf buggy to the car park in order to drop gear in cars. Not so now - you either carry your gear or are given a pull cart to walk some 500 or more metres to the car-park. No assistance from the staff at all. The price of after game drinks is exorbitant to say the least. No wonder the course was totally devoid of players other than us poor mugs who decided to give it a go despite warnings to the contrary. Never again Mr Palmer. You have lost 12 players who would rather give their hard earned to a facility that appreciates our custom.
