We visited Rocca dei Capperi for the first time in May 2012 on a bicycle ride round the Western part of Sicily. We arrived unannounced and totally exhausted, but the fatigue disappeared sitting on the terrace with the soothing view of the magic mountain Rocca d’Entella and a glass of wine in hand served by Paolo. Were we in Paradise? This feeling stayed with us during our too short visit. The beautiful rooms which Paolo himself had built out of good materials, the small stone figures among the flowers in the garden, Paolo’s simple but thoroughly tasty food made of organic ingredients from his garden enjoyed at the long common table, the starred sky and the quiet round this house far from everything. Being the only guests we talked a lot with Paolo and got to know him as an interesting and very knowing person. If you asked he would tell you a lot about the area, its history, nature, bicycle rides, wine, food etc.
That is why we had to visit Rocca dei Capperi with our friends, when we in September were doing a round trip in Sicily by car. And neither they nor we were disappointed. Rocca dei Capperi is a paradise.
We are planning to return next year with other friends.More
