We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this charming spot. The location was lovely, the rooms are gorgeously appointed, and the service was impeccable. We particularly enjoyed the breakfasts. We stayed for six nights, and could have easily stayed longer. Worth the trip to Mani!

The hotel was amazing! We had two nights here and found them very relaxing and rejuvenating! The hosts were extremely welcoming; it was like staying with friends. The son ( I'm sorry I have forgotten his name) was extremely helpful with ideas of where to go and what to see. He even had the beers on ice when we returned after a busy day of swimming and sight seeing! And the amazing breakfast in the morning was a work of art to look at, and delicious to eat, using all local produce. The towers have been tastefully restored and are extremely comfortable. The courtyards are also amazing. We would not hesitate to recommend the hotel and hope to one day go back!

Room Tip: All rooms are fabulous!

I think Citta dei Nicliani is one of the most lovely places I have ever stayed when visiting Greece. Last year it was the second time we stayed in this great place, and I would not be surprised if it is going to be repeated this year. When you enter through the iron gate for the first time, it is like walking into another era. The historic tower houses of this place are restored with a gentle hand, and seeing your bedroom for the first time is an experience in its own right. The interior is what I would describe as delicate and very tasteful with the old furniture and fine art on the walls.

Most of all you as a guest are welcomed with warmth from the hosts of this place. They will do anything to make you feel comfortable, and will give you a lot of information about the area and what is worth while seeing.

The quiet evenings out on the patio is almost difficult describe. It is a very special atmosphere in this place, where you can rest your soul and your body. If you want, dinner will be served for you, and I have eaten through tasty lobsters and legs of lamb. The owner is not only the host, but also an excellent cook.

When you wake up the next morning you feel at rest with the world, and after you have eaten yourself through the most delicious breakfast you could imagine, this feeling is still alive.
This is a place both my husband and I can recommend if you want your trip in Greece to filled with something special. A place you can relax and feel the warmth both from the people around you and the ever shining sun.

The place between the ruins and the location in the beautifull Mani.. Very nice people, the owls. The very nice homemade breakfast Our perfect spot.
All year around a nice hotel. Nearby restaurants in the village. Cows on the road. Howling Jackels. Surprising.

We spent just one night in this lovely little hotel, but it made a lasting impression and we will definitely be back! The rooms are decorated with attention to detail, and they are comfortable and elegant. The sitting area outside, by the little pebble-filled pond, is just magical, and it is a perfect place to relax in the late afternoon and watch the sunset. The breakfast was a delight, beautifully presented, and using local products and delicacies. We are really sorry to have missed dinner, but we are sure to make up for it next time! The stuff and owners are hospitable, friendly, and very accommodating to any special request, a big thanks to them!

Well, Greek tourism looks nothing like last year. It is back with a vengeance. Because services are better, hotels are better managed and prices are dramatically down. This small hotel in the Mani region of Greece is the proof of this. This family run hotel has only 7 rooms. Although Mani is not a very popular summer destination, as is off the beaten track it is for travelers and not for tourists, this particular hotel was booked solid. The family that has the hotel are travelers themselves and don't be surprised when with your breakfast they bring you salt from persia and tea from Darjeeling that was bought by them. Being a castle house (typical of Mani region) of the once very powerful Nicliani family the rooms could not be modified in size, so rooms are small and extremely clean. Every room has cable TV so that you can be connected to the outer world and free WIFI to keep up with your investments in the material world. The family is fluent in English. The breakfast of the highest quality and the fried pancakes that the lady fries just for you is a will breaker for the most dedicated dieter. On my personal opinion there are some points can take a degree of improvements. This hotel is a summer hotel, they don't have a sitting or restaurant area inside when the weather is chilly. (the food at dinner DIVINE) The window panes did not have stoppers so when it is windy they rattle. The bed spread that they put between the sheet and the bed (for youngsters that are active also at night) is plastic and when you turn it is noisy and make you sweat. (I took it out myself) Small details in a sea of beauty. Ask the younger member of the family Mr., Panos for the activities in the region and he will give you a detailed map. Don't miss Tenaro. And if you are a hiker this is a hikers paradise. Ample water and good shoes as it gets very rough and hot. Be good and keep on traveling.

Room Tip: The number 6 on the upper floor has a better view.
