I am not sure where to begin in describing our amazing stay. Very rarely does a property outshine what you see when looking online and at professional photographs. As you can see on the website for the inn, the decor, ambience and attention to detail looks fantastic. However, in person, we realized that to be there and feel the charm of the house, the breezes in our room and on the veranda and truly see the details, architecturally and in the decorating, the place takes on a feel of luxury and a comfort as if we were staying with friends.

I don't want to keep repeating "the attention to detail" but that is what resonates with us. From the design choices, quality of the bath linens, the elegant dishes and crystal decanters filled with freshly squeezed juices and how beautifully set the tables were for breakfast and dinner was so appreciated.

Each day we would go to the Beach Club and be greeted by the charming, Luca. On the beach, well, we felt like it was private. Hardly a soul as far as the eye can see. Our lunches there were outstanding. We didn't eat a thing that we thought was sub-par. And our dinners were wonderful and relaxing. The chef is tremendous.

The pool and pool house on property were lovely and inviting. I wish we had spent a little more time relaxing there.

As dog lovers, we enjoyed not only the house dogs (and cat) but the friendly dogs that would greet us on the beach.

Frankly, any more raving would just be echoing previous reviews.

We met a lovely couple that were there for the first two nights and then for the rest of our stay, we were the only guests. I am only mentioning that to say that not at any time did we feel out of place and we were treated as if we were family. To be able to sit on the lovely veranda each evening for cocktails and be able to talk and laugh with Cary, Thomas and Kiara just added to an already fabulous experience.

I am sure I am leaving out something that I wanted to note, but you get the gist. We had such a perfect, relaxing and enchanting stay. So much so, we plan to return in the Fall.

Room Tip: All of the rooms have their own special charm.

Forget the dry and touristic area of Punta Cana and visit the capital Santo Domingo – take good care of your belonging and don’t wear jewels, we were robbed – and travel thru the Island to the Samana peninsula. Beautiful landscape and beaches. Hire a car and enjoy the mountains and the national park Los Haitises. Where to stay? If you want to be at home go to the Peninsula house in Las Terrenas. Six rooms, beautifully situated on a hill facing the sea. An amazing house. But more important amazing owners. You can’t speak about normal service. You can feel as a lord in your castle or on visit by good friends. An amazing experience. Absolutely relaxing. Language? You can speak English, French, Spanish, Afrikaans, German, .. It doesn’t matter. The owners speak it all. The food is good, the kitchen is there for you. Ask and you will get it. This is not a hotel, it feels like your property. One of the best places to stay we even had.

Room Tip: Ask the owners if you want sun in the morning or in the evening on your terrace.

We had heard good things about this House/Inn while in the country and understood it was a great place to relax and recharge.

We had trouble finding it since there weren't any signs leading you to this exclusive location, but one phone call, and we had someone drive into town to lead us to the House. What hotel will come 'escort' you to the location? None that I have stayed at in recent years...

As you are led up the mountain on this single lane, rough, rocky road you begin to wonder "where in the world are we going?"... But, as you emerge from the trees, you quickly realize you've found this hidden, mountain-side oasis.

After parking, our escort quickly grabbed our bags and had them sent to the room while he briefly explained the House amenities and other details... Even at the nicest of resorts you have to 'check in' but not here. You are simply led to your room, given a key, a phone number for service, and allowed to begin your relaxation with no hassles at all.

I could go on and on about this place but seeing, and experiencing, is believing. Trust me, you will not be disappointed and you will immediately begin planning your return to this beautiful House.

The Peninsula House is such a great find. It is the perfect combination of comfort and elegance, without any pretension. It is small, yet feels wonderfully grand.

The House, along with the furnishings are truly amazing. Everywhere you look, there is something well crafted, well chosen and well placed. It all blends seemlessly to make for an intoxicating break from reality (and their great selection of rum doesn't hurt). I especially love the open-air interior courtyard, that allows for rain and sunlight…or moonlight to enter.

The surrounding landscape is lush, with an expansive rolling lawn dotted with palm trees—It provides the House with a royal platform to overlook the coastline below. They have a great beach house just a 5 minute drive down the hill, which serves up a tasty lunch. It is situated along a picture perfect beach—a great place to spend the day.

The owners and staff at the peninsula house are top notch, as is the food—it's easily the best I've had in the Caribbean. The morning selection of fresh fruit and juices alone is reason to return.

The place is miles away (figuratively and literally) from the resorts in Punta Cana. It is intimate, and quiet and lovely. A perfect place to get away…and probably even better to return.

My husband and I have had the great good fortune to visit this property twice, mostly recently over New Year's holiday. This is a place that remains with you long after you have departed -- the sounds, views, terrific food, and great conversation. You can choose to interact with the other guests or not, as you like. (There are only six suites and we found the other guests to be interesting and charming. We shared cocktails and conversation before dinner on the beautiful porch.) The owners are welcoming and run a top notch operation, all while appearing entirely relaxed. The attention to detail is incredible -- and I mean every detail -- but somehow accomplished in the most understated way. Nothing is ever rushed or stressed. Everything simply appears or happens precisely when it should. The furnishings and art are unique, the grounds immaculate. The food is top notch -- we particularly enjoy lunches down at The Beach House restaurant (located directly on the beach and an extension of the hotel, which includes beach chairs/umbrellas, towels, shower, changing facilities, etc.). I would go back again in a heartbeat. If you want big and loud, this place is not for you. If you want elegance and relaxation, book your trip now.
