We spent an idilic couple of days here enjoying the exceptional food, the calm and tranquil surroundings and the beautiful beach. We made good use of the hotels body boards enjoying the surf and were accompanied on our walks along the beach by the "complimentary" dogs who very obligingly fetched the small coconuts we threw for them. I wish we had stayed longer and would most certainly return.

We didn't stay in Casa Coson, but just next to it. We came to the hotel nearly every day for lunch. We also had a dinner there once and must admit although little expensive it was worth every peso spent - delicious french cuisine in Dominicana is something to remember.
Many thanks to the hotel's owner Sofie for her endless hospitality and great help.
The area of the hotel is very well maintained, the beach is breathtaking, the massage in the hotels garden is wonderful. There are several looked healthy friendly and patient dogs that allowed my baby to play with them. He was happy.
We wish Sofie all the best.

The location of Casa Coson is a perfect dream. We could not imagine a nicer place for having lunch. The food is exceptionally good. Each dish we've tried was delicious and nicely presented. Even simple appetizers like grilled vegetables and mozzarella are excellent. Go there, you won't be disappointed.

While staying at the nearby Sublime Samana hotel, we stumbled upon this little restaurant based in an old beach front hotel on Playa Coson one rainy afternoon. We actually thought it was a different restaurant we had read about on trip advisor. Well it turned out we were very lucky because we had a great lunch at this little unassuming place on a beautiful beach. We started off by sharing a big plate of fresh, fragrant and tasty tuna ceviche, which was the best we had in Las Terrenas. This was followed by 4 beautifully grilled langoustines and crunchy thick cut fries each. For dessert we went for caramel and cafe icecream, all of which was accompanied by cold Presedente beers. The food and service was a great and inexpensive package. What more could you wish for?

We were pleasantly surprised to find this rare gem in Las Terrenas (Playa Coson). It is very personable, tranquil and it is blessed with a "private" stretch of beautiful beach away from the crowds and noise of Las Terrenas. We rented the Casa Bali and found the accommodation to be more than adequate. My only "gripe" is that the kitchen had the basics which was fine for light lunches but don't count on being able to cook anything. Saying this, I never asked Marcia (the very friendly owner and gifted chef) for any pots and pans, and I am positive she would have been accommodating. Breakfasts are large and filling with delicious fruits, juice, a variety of breads and yogurt included. Suppers have a minimum of 3 courses and we ate at Casa Coson twice. All the meals were delicious and beautifully presented.

This is not an all inclusive resort. There were no porters for our luggage but the staff were more than willing to help out when asked. You are paying for tranquillity and solitude and your own little place in the sun. Animals are welcome and there is a vast array of cats and dogs which could put some people off, so beware. As our family loves to have animals around it just added to the ambience.

We will definitely be back!

This place is like heaven. If you're looking for a quiet, laid-back atmosphere with amazing food and a perfect unspoiled, undeveloped beach, this is it. The owners treat all the guests like family friends, the staff is really accommodating and helpful, we felt safe and secure the entire time (even walking on the beach...there is none of the selling of items/people bothering you on the beach that you find in some developing countries), and the weather was incredible. We were totally amazed and pleased by the "surprise" four-course dinner each night (french-inspired adventurous cuisine, baked goods made on site), and we opted for a simple salad, bread, cheese lunch each day because the breakfast was huge and delicious! The mattresses aren't deluxe and the rooms aren't huge or fancy, but we don't care about that...give me some awesome food and a quiet beach to read on and I'm happy. So glad we wound up here as opposed to the hotels in Las Terrenas that are across a busy road from a skinny beach--too many people, too much development. Casa Coson is home to two pet dogs and two cats that roam the property (which we found endearing and made us feel even more like we were visiting friends as opposed to being at a hotel), so be forewarned if that's not your thing. We will definitely return...Yvonne and Marzia are handing over the operations of the hotel to a younger couple (who speak English! We scraped by with our high school French--we don't speak Spanish) as of December 1. They seem lovely and we look forward to our return. We would definitely take our kids at some point, although they can all swim, love pets, and don't need high chairs, x-box, wii, etc.

Room Tip: The rooms with ocean views are small but lovely...so nice to hear the waves.

Clearly, the place is beautiful from outside, it looks like an old victorian style village in the middle of palms and in from of the sea.

Once you get there, nobody, is taking care of your luggage or maybe a welcome, as the place doesn't have a lobby. the reception is informal, through a restaurant and someone indicate the room which in my case, was THE SUITE.

Not enough water pressure, poor air condition, very standard bed, home made pillows in cylinder shape (not comfortable), a mini fridge with a couple of bottles of water. The outside door cannot be opened if you don't have the keys, also the bathroom door which lock was out of service, in my case a problem as we were travelling with a small kid. Not privacy at all.

The dinner was supposed to be a surprised (+45box per person + drinks) which is a nice idea, however, if you are vegetarian or have special needs just forget about this. Also, you must announce you will be attending otherwise meal won't be available and you have to go out more than 15kms to town. Forget about chairs for babies, or any other considerations for kids., such as security in barandas, pool area, stairs, etc.

The owners, both seem to be nice persons but lack the professional approach for a hotel service, they seem to understand the relationship with guests as invitees instead of clients. Their kindness quickly disappears when you make any comment or demand something missing or broken, making further stay uncomfortable. Many guests are friends of owners, so probably many good reviews come from invitees, not pretty sure from satisfied clients.

Our feeling was more like staying in a overpriced hostel instead of an hotel boutique, which was our expectation after seeing the several positive reviews. We are local travellers, and we now very well the area and can tell, the price should not be more than USD$60 instead of USD$170+20 for a standard room called a suite.

I am pretty sure won't we coming again unless price is reviewed or infrastructure is improved.
The sea is the most strong in the area, probably good for body surfing but not for swimming, location too far from anything, we decide to run early from this awckward weekend trip.
