Description: L’Oso restaurant is exclusively family-run. The owners personally take care of the cooking, which includes an abundance of dishes based on fish from the lake, local products such as mushrooms and truffles, and regional specialities, along with a wide selection of wines. It is possible to book for dinners, ceremonies, or parties when you can taste the various dishes on the terrace or in the large garden overlooking the lake. In the evening, when the ferry boats are no longer running, the restaurant owners guarantee the trip back in a private boat.

We love this reastaurant and always bring our friends here. The owners are friendly, the location is wonderful. Particular dishes of note for the latest visit were: Pesca Reale, crayfish and their verisn of panna cotta. They will even pick you up from Tuoro by boat and drop you back afterwards.

It was so hot this time that the children swam off the dock between courses.

“Decent food, wonderful location”
Reviewed 29 July 2013 via mobile

To eat outside by the lake is worth the visit, beautiful view in a fairytale village on a remote island in the middle of a lake. The food was no better, no worse than in a decent Italian restaurant - but nothing special. The service was attentive and helpful, even in English.

“Absolutely delightful.”
Reviewed 2 November 2011

The trip from Passignano sul Trasimeno to Isola Maggiore was lovely. There are so many different types of birds at any given moment and it is just so peaceful. We chose this restaurant because it was by the water's edge. We were warmly greeted, told we could choose a table and put it anywhere we wanted, we chose in the sun and immediately the waiter brought us a menu and a wine list.
We only wanted a small lunch so chose the fish option as a set menu. Gnocchetti with perch from the lake and pine nuts, followed by grilled perch and a fresh salad. To be honest we were just curious to try the perch and we opted for a local white wine ,Nuricante. The lake perch really was excellent and the salad was local and really tasty, far from the bland taste you often find. The wine was really good too. It seemed like the busy world was far away and we were in a haven of peace. We saw how much care was put into presentation and the waiter couldn't have been more helpful. If you miss the last boat back to the mainland they will take you back in their private boat. We also found out that they rent out holiday apartments. We will definitely come back. The only thing that could mar a visit here would be the fact that there is just one bathroom which may be a problem if it got really busy.

“Great location, friendly staff and good food and wine”
Reviewed 4 October 2011

After a 2 day stay in Passignano we went to Isola Maggiore twice. 1st time we tried L'Oso on the island for lunch. It was so good we reserved for the following day. The location is amazing and the guy there was very friendly and extremely helpful. The food was pretty good and the wine also great. The whole package of staff, location, food and wine make it a must lunch time visit for any stay in Passignano. Ferry from Passignano takes 20 mins - 12.60 Eu for 2 return. Pass - Isola @ 10:10 & 11:50, back at 14:30 & 16:00.
