Stayed for business for 2 nights and was very happy with all aspects of the hotel. Staff were excellent and the restaurant was of a great standard for both brekky and dinner- particularly liked that we could take out desert back to our room. It would be good to have the option of room service being delivered to the room though rather than having to collect yourself from the restaurant.
Good price and room was a good size and clean. Comfy bed too.

Room Tip: Don't choose a room at the back of the hotel as it is a bit noisy- ask for one closer to the fro...

Dear Family4Perth,

Thank you for taking the time to review the Kimberley Grande.
I am glad you were happy with all aspects of our property.
As most of our guests will agree it is the staff which are the back bone of any good experience when travelling, from your review it seems that our team have yet again performed well and helped make your stay enjoyable.
Thank you again for the post and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Spacious rooms, yes, but well furnished, no. It felt like normal furniture in a giants room all out of proportion - like they ran out of money part way through.
Surcharges at all points for credit cards is also pretty poor given the base room cost, and that I can use a savings account without surcharge - first rule of sales - make it easy for people to part with their money....
The bar is oddly decorated with magnificent shots of Kimberley scenery and fauna and then a few particularly offensive shots of nude women - mighty glad I was not with my kids.
The grounds were simply ill designed. We were placed right at the rear of the property and the journey around the central pool area along the front of every room in the place was awkward and inefficient. Walking across the grass before getting to a paved pathway was just odd. The pool itself was quite lovely.
The verandah was lovely. It was such a shame that there was no seating adjacent our room - there was little tables but not seats. There were a plethora of seats in other locations so I assume staff were simply not on top of returning seats to be located evenly around the grounds.
The whole place is designed facing inwards which is also a shame. The bare frontage which looked over Lake Kununurra is a massive opportunity lost, when a restaurant overlooking this asset could have been spectacular. Rooms overlooking this view would have been equally sensible. Instead, some limited seating for the bar, the blank wall of a never-opened bottle shop and the closed front of a failed nightclub provided little attraction from the road. The rear rooms are similarly ignored with a basic fence creating a visual barrier to the adjacent road but no barrier to the noise of the industrial activity occurring just there. Some trees or vegetation along that verge would be a vast improvement.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms at the side of the hotel. These have better access to hotel facilities. The espres...

Dear Annabanna,
I would love to have had the opportunity to speak to you whilst on site to explain the style of the property "Pinctada Kimberley Grande’s guest rooms reflect the Kimberley’s sense of space and the character of an Australian outback homestead whilst boasting contemporary style and comfort".
"Featuring cool polished concrete floors graced by cattle hides, artwork by prominent indigenous and regional artists, an abundance of natural light and wide verandahs, the mix of colours and textures in all rooms creates a calm and restful atmosphere".
Our property is set up to give a "Homestead" feel, paths surround the verandahs and other than one small location lead you to all areas such as the pool and dining facilities.
I am not sure of your date of stay and as we did not get the opportunity to catch up on site as I would have liked to address some of your views of the property.
Some of the points you have mentioned in your review are relevant and taken on board, however I am perplexed as to your statements regarding a bottle shop and night club, for this reason I must assume you live locally as both facilities were 7 years ago and did not suit the style of property.
I would also like to address your comments on pricing and surcharges, I feel that we have set our rates to be far more competitive than a number of other properties in town, I also know that most if not all other properties charge a surcharge on some transactions depending on what type of card is offered.
Thank you for taking the time to post your review, again some of your notes will be addressed however I respectively disagree with most of your post and wish you well in your future travels.

I only got to stay here for one night on a business trip, but I enjoyed my stay.

The room was clean and very spaceous. The shower recess in the bathroom could have fitted about 5 people in it!

Although the room was great, I found the pool area and the gardens could have been done a little bit better. There was no wow factor.

Hi Jon W,

Thank you for your recent review.
Unfortunately you were only able to stay for the one night on business, it would have been great if you could have stretched a couple of days of leisure in the wonderful Kimberley region.
Most people love the rooms and are surprised to have such luxurious extras such as our large well equipped bathrooms.
I note you thought the pool could have had a more wow factor, we are working on some changes but in the mean time trust you enjoyed the size and 25m lap section.
Thank you again for the positive review and hopefully you will be able to return for fun instead of work.

Kind Regards

I'm regularly travelling from Darwin to Kununurra on business and staying at PKG is certainly the silver lining in the cloud after a long 8 hour drive from Darwin.
The rooms are spacious stylish and one would go as far to say luxurious with a beautiful spa , comfortable living area and an executive style desk area where I tend to spend sometime catching up on business.
The jewel in the crown here is the very welcoming atmospheric bar , staff are extremely pleasant and friendly and I can personally recommend the Tuesday night pizza special. The bar was also running a drinks promotion with Wild Turkey Spiced on my last visit and all in all I thought food and drinks prices represented great value for money. A must stay if in Kununurra , the hotel caters well for everyone and definitely wont break the bank. Looking forward to my next stop off.

Hi Bluenose 1690,

Thank you for the review of your recent stay at the Kimberley Grande.
We have many travellers from Darwin and further who are thankful of being able to stay in the fantastic rooms after such a long drive.
I am glad you enjoyed the Sports Bar and one of the regular bar promotions held, the wood fired pizza's obviously hit the spot as well.
I am also glad you found the room rate to be of great value and as you mentioned there's something for everyone.
Once again thank you for the review.

Hello Heidi M,

In a very short review you have completly summed up the property and given any reader wishing to come to Kununurra a great insight into our property.
You seemed to enjoy everything we have to offer, the rooms, staff, dining and bar.
It was nice that you included to mention the Aboriginal artwork that our owner has taken great time to collect and put on display for everyone to enjoy.
You ended your review with "thanks guys" but it is us that needs to than you for staying and your kind words.

The staff at this resort would be right at home in a Park Hyatt or other 5 star brand. The subsequent high service levels made our stay an absolute pleasure.
The rooms were clean, secure, quiet and comfortable, the bar is extraordinary but the staff were the real standout, a credit to the management team. We even got a room back for a few hours after checking out due to a problem/delay with our plane and had the keys with only a few mins notice. If you're travelling to the area you won't be disappointed in this resort.

They've done a solid job of doing up an old motel, with some decent bedding and nice fittings, turning it into a swish-looking hotel. It looks rather more luxurious on the website than in reality, however it's perfectly acceptable and one of the better options in Kununurra.

Dear Londoner1879,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay.
I believe that the Kimberley Grande is the most distinctive type of property in Kununurra with its magnificent sand stone structure, the elements of the Kimberley can be harsh and our maintenance team do a great job to ensure that the resort is kept up to scratch for our lovely guests.
The finer points such as bedding and fittings also ensure that guests feel comfortable whilst staying with us and the large rooms give a sense of space that the region is famous for.
You are correct in your statement that the Kimberley Grande is one of the better locations to stay at in town, I personally believe its the only place you need to stay.
Thank you again for your review and also for choosing to stay with us, I hope to welcome you back again soon.
