“BBQ Barramundi will bring me back”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

I reviewed Colonies last year and am delighted to have eaten here again this year. Still as good as ever and we were all very happy with our meals. The street food garlic prawns went down a treat as did the rigatoni ragu. Myy husband said the flavours were amazing. I ordered the BBQ Barramundi with lime and pepper prawns and a moreton bay bug. Absolutely delicious. Our friends had the chicken scallopine and fillet steak and were also impressed with their meals. Unfortunately, we couldn't fit in dessert as the choices were excellent. Thanks for another great meal Colonies and we look forward to coming back.

“Incredible presentation of food and a lovely setting for dinner”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

The atmosphere is cosy, warm and inviting! The selection isn't huge but everything is amazing. The service is attentive and bubbly and this is the recipe for a fantastic night out.
We had the Barramundi, Scallopine and seafood platter and no one was dissapointed. The attention to detail on the plate was beautiful. I was definitely recommend having a special dinner here.

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Being keen foodies and always on the hunt for a good old fashioned 'food coma', Colonies was suggested to us by friends. A little hesitant at first as the online menu appeared quite stark and limited, we decided to give it a go anyway. All the food, from starters, entree's, street food and main menu dishes were beautifully presented, packed with flavour and exceptionally unique. We were so impressed and made a point of raving about it to our friendly and helpful waitperson. Ambiance, setting, decor, everything added to our awesome experience, one which will be repeated again and again guaranteed. The only tiny put off for me probably was the apparently stand offish owner, who also doubled up as waitstaff, she seemed quite unfriendly and certainly not in the mood for a friendly chat about the awesome food her chef (and partner as I understand) were presenting to patrons. Other than that, we will certainly be back for more!!!

“Great food and service...”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

When we arrived, didn't have a booking and restaurant was FULL on a Tuesday night - which is always a good sign. They couldn't have gone out of there way anymore to fit us in.

Being early August, it was a little cool at night, but the only table. Once our mains arrived, they moved us to a indoor table, which again was no issue.

We had the mussels and calamari for entrees and green curry and bara (fish) with mash for mains. Loved them even if a little rich for our tastes.

The tiramisu was more than enough for two (maybe even four given how rich it was) Extremely tasty though.

Great night, great service, great food and good wine choice. Will be back.
Thanks again for fitting us in and moving us without hassle.

“Very enjoyable dining experience”

Great atmosphere, nice food presentation and fair prices...the fish I ordered was fresh and delicious. We didn't have a reservation but the owner was kind enough to find us a nice table outside on the balcony. A very delightful dinner!
