I think the trick to the Rising Sun is to stick to the basics-burgers, fish and chips, etc. Our meals were tasty and filling. Drinks were well priced and the atmosphere was buzzing. Good for a casual meal and a few drinks with family and friends.

“Friendly and good food”

Found the food tasty, reasonably priced with good service, we were table of 6 people. Nice choice of beers, good atmosphere on the Saturday night, much quieter on Sunday night. Good meeting place to eat with friends.

“Really wanted to like this place, but...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

Our group was attracted to the funky, hippie-ish vibe, and arrived straight after picking up our niece from the airport. We clicked with the friendly waitress, an ex-pat from the States, and had a lovely conversation. However, that is where the good times ended. An hour later, our food still hadn't arrived, and then our waitress waved jauntily as she walked out the front door, She didn't bother to let us know her shift was over, or introduce us to another server. After another 20 minutes, our niece was starving, so we flagged down a short blonde waitress who did apologize profusely and told us our food was coming right up. My Vietnamese chicken salad was not worth waiting for: little to no flavor to speak of due to lack of dressing. The "garlic flatbread" was just awful: stale, unheated pita bread covered with garlic-flavored margarine-- yuck! Hubby and niece's shrimp bruschetta was large but also bland, and skimpy on the shrimp pieces. At this point the place was bustling and we were too hungry to wait any longer for another meal.

Maybe this place is better when it's less busy, but there are many better places to eat in the area, so why bother?

“Excellent Food and Service”

My daughter and I , had breakfasts, lunches and dinner here! It was excellent. Food yummy, fresh and delicious. Staff great, and friendly. Best were the fresh Tiger Prawns at lunch! The best I have had for a long time.

Highly recommend this place. Plus fantastic coffee too!

Will be back there!
