“Superb resort - the oldest and the best in Palm Cove”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

This is our third time staying here, and the resort continues to exceed expectations. The staff are attentive, the rooms spotless, the ambiance devine - we will be back
The only improvement would be new mattresses - as this time we felt the mattress was a bit old and soft.

Hi Kate,

Glad you enjoyed your stay again.
Sorry to hear the mattress didn't feel perfect for you this time.
Obviously many people like different mattresses and its hard to satisfy every person with a single type of mattress, as some like them soft and some like the feel of a brand new hard mattress.
I have forwarded the request for new mattresses to be considered in our next round of capital expenditure though and for now we have considered what can be done immediately, so we will now include a pillow library, so make sure to check these on your next stay with us.
Look forward to having you back again soon.

Ty Goulter

Ideal place to explore Palm Cove and the Cairns/Port Douglas area. Staff are super friendly and helfpul, the Location directly on the beach is outstanding and the Restaurant to die for! Rooms are great and offer everything you could wish for, there is a boutiquish feel about the Resort and the Spa is outstanding, great massage, nice atmosphere - I would definitely come back.
The Restaurant for dinner is - in my opinion - the best in town, the tasting menu definitely recommendable, am actually dreaming of the pork/scallop buns still. Breakfast looking straight onto the beach/sea is a very relaxed way to start the day.
Thank you for an excellent stay!

This place is a jewel to visit. On the beach just north of Cairns, the Palm Cove area is quiet and restful. The property is loaded with Palm trees and open air atmosphere. There are three pools but I could only find two. But the ocean and beach are also right there. White building gives it a Caribbean feel. Attached restaurant has great food and is a little pricy, but good local wines and food presentation is outstanding. The place reminds me of a time share back home in America. One level with living and dining room, kitchen and washer dryer. Upstairs, two bathrooms and spacious bedroom. There is air conditioning in the units.
We had a couple of problems during our stay, the dryer unit starting popping loudly and then blew the breaker which shut off most of the downstairs, and one of the upstairs bathrooms had a leaky shower and the floor had mildew. Both issues were addressed, and were working on fixing.
Note that we were on the 3rd floor and there are no elevators (lifts) to these rooms, so if you have accessibility issues, you need to ask for first floor rooms.
The staff was very friendly and they did carry your bags up to your room for you, but you're own your own when you check out.

Palm cove itself is beautiful only to be supplanted by this fantastic resort. Location is great, service very personable with great cairns demeanour. Huge new rooms with great views. You must try the heated pool and adjoining restaurant. Rates are very reasonable will come back with family

We selected this hotel as it was beachfront - absolute beachfront for a three night stay. The three-bedroom apartment was a home away from home - extremely large and spacious with high-end appliances in the full kitchen, and enough crockery to hold a dinner party for 16 (as well as the room). The apartment was poolside, and ground floor and was extremely quiet and relaxing. The staff were happy to assist with any of our needs. They had a small in-house DVD library to select a movie to entertain a 3 year, as well as a good selection to entertain adults. This is an exceptional property for families or a small group of friends who travel to Far North Queensland and want to cater themselves or have the option to dine out and about.

Room Tip: Poolside and ground floor closest to the largest pool. Although further back from the beach, the lit...

Why is this the best ocean aspect in Palm Cove? Because all the other hotels either have a road in between the accommodation and the beach, or have a large buffer of swamp land between the accommodation and the beach (I am talking about you Sea Temple). We stayed in a 1-bedroom ocean view on the first floor. The room had been partially renovated in the last few years - lovely new kitchen and bathroom, but original and dated builtin lounge and flooring. Fantastic aspect from the balcony and living. Balcony a bit on the small side and not suitable for eating or entertaining. For a 1-bed unit it was very large by modern standards, so quite suitable for longer stays. Pools are on the small side and again quite dated, except for the ocean side pool. Great service from reception who showed us the room when we were a late walk in enquiry. Probably not worth staying here unless you can secure one of the ocean view rooms. Our bedroom was not on the ocean side of the building so a bit of mechanical noise at night. Would have been nice to have some green or black tea bags, rather than a single unusual type.

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor ocean view as minimal privacy. Check if bedroom is on the ocean side if that is...

Dear Ebony,

Thank you for your wonderful feedback.
We are very proud of our absolute beachfront location.
I can assure you the Pool view rooms are just as nice as the room you stayed in as our main pool and beautiful gardens although not the ocean are also a very attractive view.
Thanks to your feedback we have now improved the complimentary teas and coffees available in the room as we are using T2 products with English Breakfast, Earl Grey and a couple of others now available.
Look forward to having you back.

We stayed 3 nights at the Alamanda Palm Cove for our wedding anniversary in a poolside one bedroom suite. The rooms were very spacious and well appointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Standard of cleanliness was excellent. The Alamanda is in a prime position right on the beach so is quite perfect to make the most of this great location.
