We stayed in a roomy apartment, located really close to the pool (although to be honest the pool was pretty cold so only used it once). We weren't overly impressed by the spa pool. We were very happy with the apartment however. It had everything we needed and having a washing machine and dryer is extremely handy when you have little children.

The beach is not a long walk away but after a couple of days we still decided it would be easier to hire a car, as we would usually visit more than once a day. That allowed us to visit other places and shop/buy groceries elsewhere too.

To be honest I didn't find the owner as friendly as some other visitors. I realise he was really busy, especially with his wife being away. However, when you have an elderly lady, a mum, two little kids (all very tired), a little help getting the luggage to the apartment would have been appreciated.

We thank you for your stay in July and appreciate your comments and glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.in regards to the pool being cool we do not heat the pool as we live in a tropical climate. July is one the colder months as this is the winter the pool is still an adequate 17 - 20 degrees, we do however have the heated spa which is set at 35 degrees which is very much used and all our guests and enjoy it. We do have to drain the spa regularly to ensure cleanliness and you may have used this once this was done and the water does take a good 12 hours to reheat.
Usually we do assist guests if required to their apartment but on this occasion as you mentioned my wife had just left to go overseas due to personal reasons and with six check-ins on this particular day I was stretched but I would have assisted if you would have asked.

We stayed 8 nights in number 12 which was a 2-3 bedroom villa with a private pool. Although we were only a 20 second walk to the resort pool, it was great having our own one to wake up and come home to each day. For mum who is elderly, it was definitely a car trip to the shops or the beach, but we were absolutely happy with doing this. We'd definitely recommend staying there, if you don't mind being away from the beachfront action - which was our preference.

Room Tip: Our villa with the private pool was very spacious, and far away enough from the highway not to be bo...

Love it....My family and I just spent the weekend at the Villas. It was just the tonic that we needed - close enough to the beach, shops and restaurants yet far enough away from it all! The Managers Madeline and Alan made us feel so welcome on arrival. Our two bedroom apartment was very close to the pool, so our kids thoroughly enjoyed it. The apartment and all outside areas were very clean, making the place beautifully presented. We have told many of our friends and we will definitely return to the Villas at Palm Cove ...Love it!

We booked these apartments on the recommendation of friends who had stayed there before albeit some years earlier. We were not arriving until around 8pm and our earlier apartment had phoned ahead for us. We found the Villas quite easily and obtained access without problem. The apartment was a good size and there was a nice 'feel' to the general development. Our back door lead us to the pool which was surrounded by palms and very picturesque. We had a hire car and so the distance from the beach was not a problem but would have been fairly tiresome if we did not have the car. We were on the road side of the development but did not find noise to be a problem at all.

I get the impression from reading other reviews and from our experience that little 'love and affection' are spent on this development. I never saw the managers/owners and the office was always closed up with a 'phone outside. As I mentioned the apartments seem a little tired and need some money spent on them to bring them up to date. The aprtment could have been cleaner and was rather dusty. We found that there was a serious lack of utensils when we decided to cook up a pasta dish one evening. No serving spoons (at all) no colander to drain the pasta and the cheese grater had so much rust on it it was unusable. I went to the office the next day (only to find it closed) and spoke to the manager on the 'phone. He was obviously elsewhere and had more important duties to attend to. He blamed the lack of utensils on an earlier wedding party and said the cleaners had probably not returned them to our aprtment. We arrived home that evening to find a new grater but no collander or serving spoons. Surely someone should check that each apartment has a full itenary of required items before your guests arrive?

I find the comments about wanting to book through him interesting. When my wife checked in the morning after our arrival they were keen to discuss tours and bookings with her. We found a deal via the internet for the Kurandar train/skyrail that was cheaper and when we mentioned this to him he lost interest.

The location was good for Cairns and the surrounding area and the neach at Palm Cove is very nice. I would look to book closer to the beach if I were to come to Palm Cove again and would suggest that the owners/managers have a look at their customer service and give the apartments a well overdue update.

Thank you for your comments on trip advisor and we hope you enjoyed your 4 night stay with us. We do take all comments seriously and do act on these immediately. We are undertaking upgrades to all rooms and mainly this are done in the quiet times, we do apologise for this. In regards to the office not be opened is false as we were there on the Saturday all day from 08:00 to 17:30 and Sunday from 08:00 to 15:30 we do not open 24hrs we do agree at sometimes I do have to leave the office to attend to matters within the resort and sometimes away from the resort and this is why the phone is outside the reception for me to be contacted on. In regards to the tour you mentioned you did ask my advice on this when you came in the office on Saturday morning to do all the necessary paperwork to check in so to say I was never in the office is false. and I did give all options on reef and Kuranda in which you took the brochures on, you did phone me on Saturday afternoon and informed me you had a special voucher from a tour centre and this is why we asked for you to contact them direct as if we had phoned they will not offer us the discount as we are an agent too.
In regards to the utensils missing you did contact me by phone Sunday morning to inform me of the missing utensils, on my return to the office 10 mins after this I did call you but there was no answer and this is when I went in the villa to see what was missing and did replace them immediately with new utensils once again we do apologise for this but when have a large group in and as all large groups they tend to meet in one villa and bring utensils and crockery to use. We do restore these once they leave but as part of the group were still in house.
We do hope to see you come back and hope you have a safe trip back to England

Positives:
Large open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area
Nice communal pool
Easy to find, clearly sign posted
Aimiable hosts
Very clean
Well appointed kitchen

Negatives:
About a 15 min walk to beach with some main roads not having pavements. I think in retrospect, having stayed in apartments on the beach previously, closer to the sea is better however a 15 min walk isn't really that much of a hardship.

Trees in back patio were very tall and blocked sun onto majority of the pool. Consequently water didn't heat up enough to use.

A little on the loud side at back of apartment as it was on the main road out of Palm Cove plus noise from neighbours drinking outside carried up to windows.

Overall, happy with our stay.
