Stayed three nights in a two-bedroom ocean-view suite, and we were very pleased with our choice. We were somewhat nervous about our choice due to some bad reviews here, but all the properties we checked out seemed to have some bad reviews... In any case, we had no complaints at all about our stay. We arrived early, but our suite was ready for us, and the fridge had already been stocked with our groceries (they'll shop for you for a $15 AUD service charge; well worth it). Our luggage (lots of it, as we were concluding a 6 week trip) was whisked up to our suite immediately, no small task as there are no elevators. The suite was very large (about 1200 sq. ft), very clean, and nicely furnished (though you would never confuse it for a four seasons; more of a casual beach atmosphere). The balcony had a hot tub overlooking the ocean. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen well-equipped. The hotel pools were beautiful, and the location is great; right across from a beautiful beach.

I have wanted to stay at this resort for a few years now so I booked a one night stay at the end of a Port Douglas trip last week.
We had a spa room in the Serenity wing (quiet area no children) it overlooked the rainforest pool, see photos. The room was clean, nicely presented and exactly what I had wanted and was really quiet overnight.
The lagoon area is great if you can get a lounge chair, I had to fight to get one and I am 8 months pregnant!
The resort has a few different pool options so there is always something to do, I also had a treatment in their day spa, very nice!
We ate at Tamara's on the Beach (house Restaurant) for both dinner and breakfast, it was quiet nice, room service took over 1.5 hours to get to us though. The only downside of this hotel was that money went missing from my wallet in my suitcase in my locked room, how this happened I have no idea, but they should keep a better eye on hotel staff if they want to maintain their 5 star name.
Overall a good stay.

I wish that i had taken more notice of this site before i booked this place. After booking i started reading reviews which most of them said how dirty this place was not public areas but your rooms.
We arrived mid october for 6 nights and we had a pent houde suite with a plunge pool. The terrace was so dirty i would not walk on it with bare feet. The pool was full of debris from the trees above so obviously there is no pool maintenance here in the private suites that have them. They did send some one to come and see to it who did appologise but it was no better as he only spent 5 mins up there.
This place could be really fantastic but dirty stained furnishings let it down ie dirty carpets stained sofa's dust and sand left from previous occupants ie body hair ect balconies never swept or cleaned inbetween guests and this is in the penthouse suite? You see an army of cleaners wandering around the public areas with there trolleys perhaps they should employ more for the rooms. Our room was never cleaned untill 5 0 clock in the evening and then they only made the bed and refreshed our towells. I have stayed in cleaner lower class accommodation.
Palm Cove itsself is a fantastic little resort to stay in but next time i would go to the Sebel Reef House or the Angsanna but never back to the Outrigger

What can I say this hotel is AMAZING! Everything from the location to the staff to the rooms to the pools was fantastic. You cannot go wrong here. The rooms were so clean if you wanted to you could eat your dinner of the floor, we had a one bedroom apartment and all the facilities were top of the range, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer the works didnt even have to get laundry detergent or dishwasher soap it was all provided. The main restaurant is lovely, food is great and resonably priced however there is plenty of other choices if this doesnt suit in the actual Palm Cove area. I'd reccommend the Spa rooms as this is luxury in itself. I can honestly say I have not staye at a nicer hotel and I'm a travel agent!

We stayed three nights in midMay at the Outrigger as part of our grand tour around eastern Australia. We had a great time and really enjoyed the hotel and the little community of Palm Cove. We felt especially lucky that the Outrigger seemed in fine shape unlike some of the other places along the strip which still had tarps and other construction in front. There is a pretty beach just in front of the hotel, the rooms are beautifully decorated and equipped, the staff is friendly and the swim-up bar the best! One night we ate at one of the four hotel restaurants, Bella Baci, and another night down the street at Colonies in the esplanade. Both were excellent.

Palm Cove is a great little place, very relaxed great beaches and nice restaurants. The Outrigger Pool and public areas including gardens all reflect a five star hotel. However, out suite was a little on the dirty side, dusty and badly cleaned. It’s a shame that that this let the Outrigger down because on the surface it is a great Hotel. The rooms afre well appointed and staff very friendly. I would echo the comments of other guests regarding the privacy of the Spa.

We did complain about the dust etc in the room and a promise of a VIP clean never materialised.

The pool areas on the other hand are great, cleaned as you would expect twice a day, but the furniture was ready for maintenance.

We had no issues with Palm Cove, or the position of the Outrigger. The road in front is minor, and the Resort only a few metres from the nice beach. Palm Cove has a friendly atmosphere and unlike Cairns feels classy.

We had a great stay but wished our room was properly cleaned. The Outrigger arranged transfers which were very good.

Cyclone Larry, a Category 5 Cyclone hit nearby Cairns. We had already booked and paid for accommodation at the Outriger and wanted to see if the hotel and surrounding amenities were in working order, and if not when they might be. We had been told that Palm Cove had been effected by fallen trees, no electricity, and that supermarkets did not have full supply. The reservation lady was extremely rude and very unhelpful. It was like she did not want us to stay. I telephoned nearby hotels Angsana and also Novotel for their advice as to the area of Palm Cove and they were extremely helpful. They told me the honest truth about the area and were so friendly and lovely. Offered us a cheap rate if we wanted to stay. If you want a friendly holiday and want to be looked after book into Angsana or Novotel.
