“Superb location across from the beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 October 2013

Great location right on beginning of Palm Cove strip. Nice view across to Double Island, the beach and the jetty.
We spent 5 nights here in a 2 bedroom apartment (with Spa on balcony and in 2nd bedroom) overlooking the pool with beach glimpses. All facilities we needed on our doorstep, good coffee shop/bar, restaurants etc. Pool was good for the kids.
Palm Cove is a beautiful beach resort very close to Cairns and Port Douglas, we love Noosa and the Sunshine Coast and this gives it a run for it's money. Water was warm and colours were amazing and great beach. Great time of year as no stingers, but nets in place. Lots of good restaurants and cafes open all day.

Room Tip: Ocean view if available. None avail when we booked.

My husband & I have just enjoyed a lovely five night stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a one bedroom apartment with a spa on the balcony.

The apartment is large with a fairly well equipped kitchen (no dishwasher). We used the communal laundry without any problem. There is a drying rack in the apartment which is great so you don't have to use the clothes dryer.

The spa pool water is changed after every stay so the water is fresh. It take 2-3 hours each time you want to heat it as they can't be left on continuously. Can be a little bit of a pain when you get back late from a day trip and feel like a spa. However, I understand you can ask reception to turn it on for you if required. It was lovely and a great way to finish the day.

The weather was extremely windy when we were there but our balcony was very sheltered as was the pool area. We lay by the pool a coupe of days and even though it was cold to get in to (unheated) it was lovely once you got used to it.

We were lucky that it was very quiet when we were there and there were no children! However, it would be an ideal property for families.

You can catch the local bus to the supermarket to stock up or you can walk it it in approximately 30 minutes.

The owners were very friendly and helpful and the grounds & pool are beautifully maintained. It's a great location on the waterfront with very minimal traffic noise. Lots of restaurant choice and you don't need a car unless you are going further afield.

Room Tip: We requested a room on the top floor (3 floors) as it was nice to look over the pool.

I stayed at Alassio with my son and parents in a 2 bedroom apartment, it was absolutely perfect. Sue & Darryl were lovely, & the place was awesome. Across the road from the beach, and with its own pool, the location was the best. The set up with the 2 bedroom apartment was particularly good if you want options of your own space or shared with your travelling companions as we each had our own bathroom and balcony!! We want to go back, today.... :)

My husband has very limited mobility, and we were searching for a wheelchair friendly apartment - well we chose just the right place, the bathroom facilities were fantastic, and we were so comfortable. Darryl and Sue were fantastic, Bella was gorgeous - all in all just a lovely holiday!

Room Tip: Ask for the mobility apartment if you are disabled - my husband loved the bathroom!

Having spent a while trying to figure out the best location to stay in the Cairns/Port Douglas region, we settled on Alassio and Palm Cove and were pretty pleased we did. Sue and Darryl are fantastic hosts in what is an excellent location if you are looking for a decent sized apartment style property, with the added luxury of balcony spas!
Using this as a base for a lot of day tripping both north and south, we were pretty much the only people staying (on an early May trip) for the week, which made for a very peaceful location.
As far as the property goes, excellent value and highly recommended and we would definitely look here again next time we venture north.

Tip - with regards to food in Palm Cove, yes it is a bit of a monopoly on the market (and you will find some seemingly silly prices on some restaurant menus) but ask around when you get there and not just rely on Tripadviser (or other) reviews. Chef's and staff turn over reasonably swiftly in such locations, and we found some amazing feeds at locations that had received pretty rank reviews on a month or so earlier (such as Far Horizons at Angsana).

Room Tip: The pool/garden rooms on the top floor have a great view over the inner 'sanctum' of the pla...

You must stay here!! After a hard months work in Melbourne, our two families decided to take a trip to Queensland. Palm Cove was suggested and after looking on the net we all agreed on The Alassiio. If I can use three words to describe our holiday they would be Wonderful .. Brilliant.. And Thamks !! Daryl and Sue could not have been more helpful and left us to it. You can't be closer to the beach and all Palm coast has to offer.
The accommodation was very clean and had everything you could need and the pool was great for the kids... They were never out of it!!
We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend The Alassio . A holiday we will never forget . Thank you
