“Never stay there!!!”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

Booked on Wotif and thought we would stay at the beach. Had to walk half an hour with three kids under 4 years old to get to the beach... very misleading! Filthy bathroom, with dirty shower walls! I was disappointed w/ the cleanliness of the room!!

We stayed for 6 nights and DIDN'T HAVE HOUSEKEEPING!!!! Paid AU$200 per night and our rooms were not cleaned one single day!!!!! DISGUSTING!!!!

I wouldn't come back!!!!

I originally got this deal through Groupon, half price which was great! $300 for 3 nights, instead of $600 and I upgraded to a spa room for an extra $75. What a waste that was! Expecting this lovely room with a nice spa, was greeted to a filthy bath with soap scum up the shower walls! I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the room, there were long curly black hairs throughout the apartment, even in the bathroom. I had to use the broom provided to sweep up and there were leftover hairs stuck to the end of the broom, it was feral!!

The couches and carpet in the bedroom were stained, the dishes smelt funny, I had to use boiling hot water to rinse them before using, overall disappointed. The free to air wasn't working on the T.V, even with the instructions provided, so first night had a few foxtel channels to choose from which were poor quality, couldn't call reception to notify as they closed at 5pm and our phone in the room wasn't working!

Pros':
-Nice view
-Big balcony
-Kinda close to the centre of town, although still a fair walk up the hill to get there

Cons':
-No shop within close walking distance to get supplies
-Don't supply enough amenities for the time spent there e.g. two mini milks and a few sugars, gone within the first morning
-One receptionist wanted to charge for more amenities but one other didn't, confusing
-Had to wear thongs in the shower as didn't feel clean enough to go without them!
-Curly hairs throughout apartment
-Wasted $75 on a 'spa' for nothing
-T.V didn't work and the batteries were almost flat
-Reception open late and close early, so in order to get anything done you had to be there during the day to organise
-Phone wasn't working, so couldn't call reception, used mobile
-Building is a bit run down
-Spa outside, near pool, was luke warm and a bit gross
-Couch very hard and umcomfortable
-Beds were awful

Overall I wouldn't come back, think the photos are a bit photoshopped! Would rather spend the money for closer to town for what they charge, if you don't have a vehicle and not very fit, be prepared to catch buses/taxi's, especially in the middle of the day when it is very hot and humid. Make sure you stock up on supplies as the shops are a fair while away.

Would rate the cleanliness a 2/3 out of 10. I did a better job of cleaning it myself when I got there. I know from all the con's I sound like a whinger but we stayed two nights at a very nice hotel before we came here and we were expecting Blue Horizon to be better but that wasn't the case, this is a very honest review and I cant say I have written a bad one before!

After being extremely disappointed with our booked accommodation we called Blue Horizons at 8:30 sat morning an after hours person actually answered the phone and took all our details. we were in a jam and no where to go with our 10 month old daughter and asked if early check in was possible. The man on the front desk said he would see what he could do, after not expecting too much we were call later after a swim in the lagoon and told the could get us in a room at 12:00.
I cant thank the front desk staff enough they bent over backwards to help us out even though they didnt need to.

the rooms were clean and well presented and a great view from the 5th floor we were right next to the lift and didnt hear it unless we were on it.
the only downside is others smoking on their balconies blowing into our room. surprised in this day and age that airlie beach seems to be so far behind on the no smoking policies. but that is just me nit picking to find a point of improvement. overall a lifesaver of a business and great staff i will definitely take my family there again this time for a longer stay!

Room Tip: good views are obviously higher up 5th floor was great!

We had a 3 night stay at the resort ina 1 bedroom apartment with a spa. The place was well presented and clean and had some good view from the balcony(although we were on Level 1, higher the room better the view). The apartment was well appointed and had all we needed to make out stay comfortable. The bed was super comfortable and with the resort been a 10 minute walk from town was real quiet at night. The pool was a good size and so was the spa (which means we didn't use the room spa at all). Car parking wasn't too bad on either levels although care was required not to bump into a post etc. Also on check in received good advice that if we wre going to walk into town (which we did), to tak the lift to the basement as this resort is located on the side of a hill and has many steps to go up/down before even getting to the street. Although it was clean and tidy the downside was that we washed glasses etc before using them as not the cleanest when we arrived and also the cushions on the lounges had some permament stains which didn't look to attractive.

We are finishing our nine night stay and have found these apartments fantastic in the size and all the things you require for a relaxing holiday. It is a 10min walk from the main st however the walk is easy along the new marina path and void of any challenging hills in the area, there is an IGA within easy walking distance or three bus stops. The views are stunning to the hills and the ocean.
They cleanliness is impressive with the BBQ maintained daily and pool area is hosed down clean every day.

Room Tip: We were on level 5 but they all seem nice

This is a great property. Great rooms, great facilities, great views. It is within walking distance of the shopping strip. Unfortunately it is not a smoke-free property. We were unfortunate enough to have a heavy smoker in the next apartment, who spent a lot of time on the adjoining balcony puffing away. The balconies are only separated by a timber louvre, so we were engulfed in his smoke and had to spend a lot of time inside our room with the door shut. We will seek out a smoke-free property on our next stay in Airlie Beach.

Stayed here with my partner and overall was happy with the room!

Bed was comfortable and the apartment was awesome we were on the top floor and the views were spectacular besides the construction going on (not the resorts fault)

Felt very relaxed here almost like you are at home however the couches were incredibly uncomfortable.

Staff were very nice and friendly! Would stay here again
