Stayed one night at Kipara Retreat in a Self-contained Villa which was perfectly adequate for our needs. As we checked in after-hours, I rang ahead to make arrangements to make sure things went smoothly. The self check-in system was straightforward and as specified by staff. They even made sure there was a map included so that we could find our accommodation without problems.
The bunk bed was fine for one night, even though a bit saggy. Being winter, doonas were provided and not just blankets, which was a nice touch. The ensuite bathroom was clean, and the complementary toiletries was a nice surprise (not just the usual disc of soap). A full-sized fridge, microwave and a half stove-top (2 rings) made up a decent little kitchenette. Maybe instructions needed to be included for the microwave, as it took me a while to work out how to use it! (Not user-friendly at all, being a knock-off brand).
The only thing I would recommend would be to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The retreat is situated on Shute Harbour Road, the main thoroughfare in and out of town. So any vehicle noise is amplified during the night, and also when the traffic starts to pick up in the early hours of the morning. But all in all, a decent and comfortable short stay. Make sure you ring ahead to make arrangements for after-hours check in.More
