Gorgeous place to sit and sunbathe. Makes a nice day for people travelling on a budget and is great if you want to swim as the sea isn't always suitable for swimming this far up North.

Airlie lagoon is perfect for everyone. It is patrolled by life guards and doesn't have any of the possible dangers of tropical North Queensland waters to worry about. It is beautifully landscaped to fit in with the natural beauty of Airlie Beach, has heaps of shade and lush green grass to lay on, plus the best bit: IT'S FREE!!

Great pool area set over a very large area. Very similar to Brisbane Southbank lagoon. Refreshing with easy access. You can park next door to the swimming area. Free entry to the lagoon. Loads of backpackers along with other tourists flock to the area. Plenty of tables or just sit on the grass

Airlie lagoon is a perfect part of the Whitsunday's. free for all , patrolled, very clean, set in beautiful gardens and big enough for everyone without being crowded. Top spot for a lazy afternoon.

Tired of a long northern European winter ? Dreaming of swimming at a tropical Australian beach next Christmas ? Think again ! Tropical beaches in Queensland, and on many of the islands, are infested with deadly jellyfish during the Australian summer. This fact has been left out of many of the tourism brouchers. You will see huge signs up at all the tropical beaches warning you not to swim in the sea during the summer.
