Being a local of 12 months, had never tried this restaurant and thought it maybe nice to take my visiting family to - as who doesn't love chinese / asian food…. we mainly went there as it being on the waterfront we thought it would have a nice ambience.. :-( and we had seen their buffet advertised downstairs..
Very disappointing, absolutely NO atmosphere at all, appeared the staff didn't enjoy their work and after the food had been sitting in the hot box for so long was like eating in a shopping mall fast food area, not our idea of eating out at a restaurant, we arrived around 1830hrs and appeared the food had been in the hot box for quite sometime.
They advertise in their buffet "Prawns and Mussels" we do not class imported Indonesian prawns as any type of representation of our beautiful Whitsunday's seafood, the prawns tasted like diesel & were the real artificial deep red colour… will leave it at that, I did manage to peel one and could smell and see they were certainly NOT Australian prawns, Very disappointed, didn't try the Mussels after seeing them sitting in a bowl of water, I gather that may have earlier been a bowl of ice they were in.
I am hoping this will be taken as constructive criticism and the management may take it on board to lift the quality currently on offer, Not once whilst the staff were clearing plates did they ask if the meal was nice or was there something they could bring us.... I guess that is a reflection also of an unhappy work environment… there was not one word exchanged between the staff working our table and us, even when we would say "Thank-you" for clearly plates they made no eye contact and certainly did not say "Your Welcome" Come on folks you are in hospitality, please start to practice it, even if you have to pretend you enjoy your job.
