For both of us this was our second marriage and I chose the Whitsunday Islands for our honeymoon as I had been there 20 years ago. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon at the Coral Sea Resort. I can not believe some of the reviews of this resort as it was a wonderful experience, from the beautiful meals, the cleanliness of the room, the convenience of the laundry facilities and the lovely staff in the resort shop. She booked all our day trips to the Islands without a hitch. The resort is ideally located close enough to the town but far enough to not hear the 'young ones' in the bars. Everything was in walking distance, the marina, the restaurants, the beach, the foreshore and the lovely Saturday market. Our room faced the bay and the morning we had breakfast overlooking the sea - the best of both views. We would certainly recommend this resort and will be staying there again, this time our children all want to come too!!

My new husband and I went to spend our honeymoon at the coral sea resort in the coral sea spa suit. I had booked a limo transfer but a taxi arrived. When we had checked in our room it had 3 hangers no shelves to put clothes on no draws to put clothes in just a rail with 3 hangers. The balcony was and nice and the view was fantastic but the room itself was very travel lodge. Do not go to the hawiian night you pay $75 for very poor food and a show that you can whatch anyway if you just sit around by the pool which everyone did anyway. It was ok but not very romantic for honeymooners.

Our family (2 adults & 2 children) stayed in the 2 bedroom penthouse in July 2008.

It was beautifully presented, spacious & with all expected amenities. Spa bath on the balcony which overlooked the pool plus the uninterupted views across the coral sea was fabulous.

The resort is walking distance to "town" and the marina, so you dont need a car. Its well away from the ugly contruction site (2nd marina development) which has spoit the view of many resorts on 'the main road" of airlie beach.

We have stayed previously in 2 other resorts at Airlie beach - Coral Sea is by far the best and we will be back. Yes, its on the expensive side, but well worth it.

The resort pool is large & was warm enough to swim in in July. Our boys used the watersports (jetski rides). We did not eat in the resaurant, only ordered poolside drinks & the service was just fine. We found the resort staff friendly and helpful at all times.

Some previous reviews have posted negative comments, this was not our experience at all. Next time in Airlie beach we will stay at the Coral Sea resort.

We booked a stay at Coral Sea Resort for 2 nights. We stayed in a coral sea suite. The room was large and nice and I found it clean and comfortable. The only disapointment was that the balcony was a lot smaller than it appears in the photos on the website. The view was amazing and you could literally throw a fishing line over the balcony and hit the water.

The staff were average. As another reviewer has stated, if you don't appear to be wealthy you get treated accordingly by the reception staff. We ordered a few cocktails by the pool and you have to order then wait a fair while to get them, but the bar staff were pleasant.

Breakfast was ordinary. We ordered the full brerakfast and you basically get eggs, bacon etc. plus cereal and fruit. There is not a lot to it for $25 per head. We waited forever for our hot breakfast to arrive.

Location is good. A nice easy walk to the main centre along the boardwalk.

All in all, we loved the view and the location, but we have stayed at Waterfront Whitsunday which is far superior and a lot cheaper.

We flew into Hamilton Island and then took the ferry across to Airlie Beach and checked in. The place did'nt look much from the street, but looks can be deceiving and were looking forward to 7 nights R&R.
We had a room that was of decent size, clean and well furnished. We had a hammock on our balcony along with a spa bath - both overlooking the Whitsunday's - briliant!
Lazing away on hammock, we would watch the yachts come and go from Abel Point Marina, cocktail in hand. The resort is only a 10-15min walk from the bustle of the main street, accessible via the boardwalk along the beach.
We booked a romantic dinner for two in the gazebo one night at the resort, and the food, atmosphere and views did not disappoint. The food is on the pricey side, as are the drinks, but it is all quality and to our liking.
We had a problem one day when we returned from a day trip to find a glass pane had shattered in the bathroom. The staff were great and arranged to have it fixed next day, and as our room was no longer secure, they upgrded us to the Penthouse for the night! Now that's service!
The only other issue we had was that we had booked for the Hawaiian seafood buffet and had it cancelled on us at late notice when the resort took a manor group booking instead.
Overall a great stay and highly recommended for couples without the kids.
