“Very disappointed”

We booked this after seeing photos on the Internet only to be disappointed when we checked in. We booked the 3 broom penthouse with a spa on the balcony.
The spa would fit only 2 kids in it - pathetic to say the least .
Before I paid I asked to see the room only to be told no . After 30 mins I had checked out as other 3 broom apartment in the same hotel was $1000 cheaper.
Rebooked accom just 2 doors down and it is great accom and $700 cheaper.
Would not recommend the hotel as the Internet photos are mid leading

What interesting experiences we have as owners and managers of accommodation facilities.We only deserve to stay in business if we do everything we possibly can to fulfill our guests' expectations. Unfortunately our best appears to be not good enough for the occassional guest.
This becomes even more curious when our Resort was recommended to that guest as a beautiful place to stay.
The 3 bedroom Penthouse is exactly as the website describes and could not be faulted when the owner personally questioned our guest as to what the problem was with the accommodation and how we could satisfy her expectations of having a larger spa. It appears the 2 adult person spa was too small.
The owner apologised for not being able to meet the guest's expectations and offered the Penthouse to the guest at the same rate as a normal 3 bedroom Apartment without a spa.This wasn't good enough however and the owner was asked to wait until the guest's husband returned after canvassing up and down the street for a better rate.
Congratulations to the accommodation provider that finally took this booking, however I'm sure our guest got what they finally paid for.
As a further show of goodwill Mediterranean Resorts gave this guest a full refund even though their Cancellation Policy quite clearly states they were entitled to retain the entire booking amount once the guest had booked in.
In conclusion we encourage any potential guests to contact us direct on our toll free number if there is any doubt or confusion whatsoever regarding our website disclosures. We at the Mediterranean pride ourselves on doing our utmost to satisfy our guests' expectations and we would like to thank the countless previous and future guests who continue to thoroughly enjoy there stay with us.

What a huge apartment! I stayed in October and thoroughly enjoyed my time here and the views are just stunning. There's a lot of accommodation in Airlie and I felt a little overwhelmed when researching my trip given I had friends coming from overseas but I'm so glad I picked this place. The apartment was big and modern, really clean, the staff were super helpful whenever we needed anything but I think the real bonus for me are the views. It's so worth the effort to walk up the hill and finish the day sitting on the big balcony enjoying a drink. The BBQ and pool area was also a great bonus because again the views and amenities were all top notch. I'm planning another trip and I'd definately stay again.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment over the Christmas period. As these apartments are individually owned, my comments may not apply to all of the units in this complex.
First of all - the good:
The apartment was very spacious with a good sized balcony and great views over the bay and out to the islands. The linen and towels were good quality and the bed and pillows were comfortable.
The not so good:
The kitchen in our apartment could do with a facelift - the cupboards, bench tops and sink are quite dated. The bathroom and the area outside the bathroom door were very mouldy and it looks like the timber is starting to rot. It was raining when we arrived and the bedroom window leaked. Some serious maintenance is required.
The driveway is extremely difficult to negotiate as it is very steep and it takes a multi-point turn to get into and out of the garages.
There is a glut of accommodation in Airlie Beach and I'm sure that you could find better in this price range.

My friend and I stayed for 4 nights over New Years and we were very impressed! We had wine and chocolates on arrival, and amazing views. The apartment was big and clean and we would definetly stay back. Pools were nice and clean and friendly receptionist. Again, like the other reviewers, only downside was walking up the massive steep hill, but in saying that, it is only a 5min walk from town and the views make it worthwhile! Wish we could have stayed longer!

We only had 2 nights here but really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was excellent, well maintained and spotlessly clean. There was plenty of room to spread out and the pool area was lovely. Would definitely return on our next visit. Only downside was the walk up the hill but fixed by getting a taxi. The views were stunning.

We stayed a couple of nights here in July. When we arrived for check in - about 2:30 ( prime check in time) the office door was locked and we had to buzz to get someone to check us in. Once we got to the room we were blown away by the view - stunning, stunning, stunning.

The unit itself was nice and clean although there was a long drip of fat falling from the rangehood which was pretty yuck but we didn't cook so it didn't bother us too much. The bed and pillows were awesome and we had a couple of very good nights sleep.

The pool was lovely - really nice floating around watching the beach below. We didn't think the walk up the hill was as bad as all the reviews make it out to be. We are not super fit and there is a bit of calf burn but it only takes 5 mins to get up the road.

However..............

When we checked out at 10am on our last day we were again greeted with a locked door with the same sign. I admit I only read the first couple of lines about buzzing for someone to come and help and not the final bit about the key safe deposit box. When I buzzed I was greeted by a male voice who told me quite rudely that to check out I just needed to leave the key - in his words "as the sign said". No "how was your stay?" " thanks for staying with us" or anything. RUDE! What if we had questions or feedback? It's not like we were checking out at an awkward time. This tainted our whole impression of the hotel esp. since we received great service everywhere else on our holiday.

Thank you for your review of your stay with us at Mediterranean resorts.
We apologise if there has been a misunderstanding during your departure.Our small management team live on site and we make ourselves available for most of the hours in the day.
Even though our office hours state 8.30am to 6pm we are available most hours of the day and night via our intercome located right next to the office door.
We also have a very clear and ledgible sign on the office door for early or late departures indicating the use of the "after hours key return box" should the office be temporarily unattended.
As we are a very small management team and we can be away in the resort during office hours at times we find the intercom system is very effective. The intercom is always attended and my mobile phone number is also very clearly visible as we do look forward to getting feedback from our guests.
A great many guests avail themselves of this service and once again I apologise if the communication you received was not to your satisfaction or offended you.

This place was in an excellent location, close to town and eating places. The walk up the road to the complex is pretty damn tiring and certainly gets the heart pumping. If you walk the left hand side of the road and use the steps to cross over at the Mediterranean it makes it a bit easier or alternatively pay $5 and get a taxi from town. The room needed a wee bit of cleaning on arrival but otherwise ok. The drier in the garage was hopeless as we had wet days 3 out of 5 and couldn't get stuff dry as it kept cutting out. I mentioned to staff but it wasn't fixed and I had to share our friends drier but same thing happened to them. The main pool and spa were unfortunately cold and with so many wet, windy, cold days we could have done with a hot soak as we didn't have a bath either like our friends apartment. Thought the spa at least could have been heated. The view from our apartment was wonderful but better upstairs from our friends as theirs was unobstructed by the apartment across from us.The staff were very quick to rectify any other issues that they were made aware of.

Room Tip: The higher your apartment the better the view.
